Thread: Best Smuggler template

All right Pre-CUI was a Pistoleer/Smuggler which was great. Now pistoleer is a "crowd control" or in my experience group sticker toer because it takes a while to kill anything. Ive been a Smuggler/carbineer and some pistol defences should I keep this or try and cope with pistoleer?

Couple choices here;


1. mpistols/msmugg/cm4000 group support extraordinaire... okay, honestly... not too bad if youconsider even the "hardest" hitting template needs some kind of medical skill... unless they somehow can magically keep their opponent at range and it doesnt shoot back


2. Mcarbineer/smug 4004 or dabbler of some sort/cm4000 for your carbineering pleasure- a little more firepower, a little less smug.


3. Msmug/commando 0400/pistol accuracy tree/rifle 4000/carb accuracy tree/master marksman- classic accuracy stacker... retains all the benefits of smuggler, adds in 290 general ranged accuracy... so will hit hard no matter the weapon used, and probably prefers laser rifle sniper shot for stationary flat ground big pimpin dmg.No medical skill to speak of, and with smuggler KD gimped... no KD atm.


Lacks many of the things I would consider "helpful" such as startle shot to keep your enemy from shooting back, and of course, a KD.


4. Smug 4004/commando 0400/rifle 4000/pistol acc tree/master marksman/cm4000= 230 general ranged acc, but has the ability to heal. Again lacks KD, but retains the "meat" of smuggler combat moves, minus FD, and can still craft all the spice.


5. anyones guess. Prior to the acc stacker template, i considered smuggler a "support only" option.


There are tons of other templates, the strength of the acc stacker templates presented herein, have not been tested by myself personally, but one such stacker claimed his improved head shot was hitting for more than his master rifle sniper shot... which hehe, i will only believe when I see... and even then... I would "probably" add CM4000 anyhow, as not having knockdown, and having to rely on sitting FD while I heal myself with gimp heals.... isnt entirely appetizing.

i did pistols/smugger and liked it alot, but i found that MBH/Smuggler/pistols 0400 has a bit more damage potential. better defenses and accuracy.

no heals... no range... no service.


Guess yah could use a laser rifle to make the range, still no heals... Im seriously developing the opinion that cm 4000 is a must regardless of what combat spec you want, unless you are a jedi or master doc. But hell, thats me, I develop an opinion based on what I see... and I stick with it.

With the new instant stims you don't need medical ability anymore plus chef food called something like beliel cuts downtime between stims to 30 secs.

i like the BH.. SMUGGLER.... 0/0/0/4 pistol template. You get the extra 40 melee/range defenses from the pistol tree. Along with this you get the great STOPPING shot... a great rooting attack. You get all the torso/eye/confusion shots of BH,

I have M Smuggler, M Squad Leader and Pistoleer 4000.


Basicly a "fun" template. No 300 accuracy and 120 speed.... no far less. You should try and do what you like best Smuggler is not a good damage dealer but a really good crowd controller.

msmug/mpistol/rm 0044 for the uber fotm template


youd use rifles as your main weapon; you have better rifle speed and acc than you would pistol speed and acc anyway. 65m range or more + adv stopping + improved concussion + improved kneecap shot + improved restraining = win button vs melee


that is, unless they fix roots to break on damage....

Guessit, I wouldn't call those Smuggler templates, since they only include a dabbling of Smuggler.


Okay, everyone pretty much knows by now, but I've found Msmug/MBH/nov carbs INCREDIBLY effective. You can do slightly more damage with the Msmug/MBH/pistoleer template, by virtue of speed mods, BUT the range of the carbs more than outweighs it. Get a Czerka or a Proton Carb and rock out

I've been playing with Msmug/M carbs, though I don't see myself sticking with it, I dunno, it basically does the same things as Msmug/MBH without the bleed or critical shots...

that is my exact template and i absolutely love it...great damage output from BH and the crowd control of smuggler plus some extra defense from pistoleer...works perfect for me

Before CU I was Msmug/MPistoleer with some boxes here and there. I always wanted to try BH, so I went MBH/MSmug/4-0-0-0 Commando during the respec.


The firepower provided by MBH was nice,but I couldn't get my head around bounty missions, so I dropped Investigation and picked up Heavy Beam Weapons.



So now, I'm Master Smuggler/0-4-4-4 BH/4-4-0-0 Commando, and I like it. Above average defenses and ranged accuracy, coupled with strong specials from BH and crowd control from Smuggler.


But I guess once they fix Commando I'll go MSmuggler/Mcommando/0-0-0-4 Pistoleer with some FS skills

There is no longer a BEST template out there period, I've found that all templates have there use. One I'm loving at PvP at the minute is:-

Master Smuggler: Crowd control is extremely useful and fiegn death has saved me pleanty of time.

Master Rifles: The range as well as the hard hitting of rifle goes great with smuggler, also now that cover is working you can use your crowd control abilities head 20+m away from any NPC or PC and go into cover and your oppent won't be able to fire back at you and conceal shot hits hard.

Pistols 0004: Taken for range defence and stopping shot.

Commando 3000: Taken for range defence and Imperial detonators when they are workign again.


Now with no heals I need to have Stim Ds and ruby bile, everyone should have these no matter their template IMO. It's expensive fighting and my buff bar is usualy full to keep me at my best. It is a kiting template if you get caught close in you better fiegn death and wait out what ever's stopping you running.



Another template I enjoyed was Master Smuggler, Master Commando, Pistols 4404. It is a very good crowd control template. At distance use concussion shot with a rocket luncher (single KD) for signle targets and acid luncher (AoE blast) for multiply targets. The flame throw with concussion shot can stop a charge of Jedi at 40m away. You got to time these right. The problem is you have to rely on your pistols with sub par damage specials to cause you damage at 35m and your defences are really low. This is more for those running around in a group.
