Thread: Slicing Idea
I don't think it would be worth it. Shuttles are only 115-350 credits to travel from town to town (depending on the area), so you wouldn't be saving much, and the 500-1000 credits you'd be saving by slicing the terminal for interplanetary travel won't appeal to most people.
the potential for dying, cloning, corpse retrieval (when they put it back in) isn't worth 1000 credits, IMO.
But I agree we need more stuff to slice.
Slight modification of your idea, well morethan slight i guess...
Travel tickets themselves look pretty electronic, what say you buy a ticket and then slice it to take you elsewhere. Failure destroys the ticket. Little simpler, less exciting too I guess but easier to implement.
Make the difficulty dependent on the change, a ticket modded to go form Cornet->Naboo instead of Cornet->talus would be Average. But modding the same ticket to say Dathmoir<sp?> would be very difficult to impossible.
Your ideas intrigue me. Please tell me more about your religion and or organization.

Now seriously. I like that idea. Can't get something sliced twice? Get a bit of both on the one you can get.
to be honest with you, slicing should have worked this way from the get-go. as it stands now, you basically put on a blindfold and take a stab at getting the slice you want...noone tweaks items for a living without being able to guarantee somewhat that they will at least be affecting the stats that their client wants affected.
of all the suggestions ive seen, this is one of the best...of course, this is more than 2 clicks for 6000c so half of the guys in this forum will whine and say they dont like it. ![]()

What about making slicing just like experimentation. It would be like taking the weapon/armor back to the experiment stage in crafting. The smuggler would have up to 10 points to invest in imrpoving the item's attributes.
How about it?
Good question. Right now we get our points for experimenting from the spice tree... maybe just make it the SlLicing tree that give the points yeah. A bonus at master and there ya go... I really like this idea.

I like that idea. Would the number of points be determined by level?
Not to toot my own horn or anything... toot-toot!
But, yea, the slicing points would build up through the tree. 2 At each box and 2 more at master. Something like that....
But this could work on all kinds of things. Harvesters, vehicles (HP!), droids, and more.
Maybe BEs could have a similar skill for enhancing the stats of creature pets.
It is a system already in place within the game. I can't see where the big problem would be to adapt it to various professions and aspects... What would happen to clamps and FAN's though? Perhaps add a certification to use them at slice 1 and slice 3 and they give extra points? FAN +1, Clamp +2?
Let's hammer this out nice and neat and pass it to the In Concept board ![]()

On containers and terminals they would do what they do now.
They would still basically work as they do on everything else.
You cut the wrong wire and poof. No menu to work in. You cut the right wire, and you get the screen like the experimentation screen. Instead of getting the random slice, you get to pick where you put your slicing prowess...
