Thread: Anyone ever remember the Everquest Warrior Walk outs?

I'm not sure if anyone here played EQ during the time that the warriors felt that their position in groups had been upsurped by Shadow Knights and Paladins (Not so much pallys lol) so much so that they were basically irellevant and had no place in the game. So what did they do? They organized a HUGE walkout where all the warriors would stand around the Plane of Tranquility stone and basically do nothing, stand there and basically made it a point that EVERYONE would be able to see how much this affected the community of players in a whole instead of those who thought it was just a few players pissin' and moanin' about what they thought was unfair. Maybe a walk out should be organized if we're to make such a vocalization about our issues. It worked for the warriors, not even 3 days after it started EQ Dev's started to say "I think we really do have a problem here" and thats when they began instituting the new melee changes that you see today (If you were to ever go back, though the question remains, Why would you? (Don't Answer that)).

That's an interesting idea....but would be hard to impiment.

The smuggler prof is broken to a point, but i have other things I can do with my toon. So if I stop playing because of smuggling issues, i won't be able to hunt BH missions.

One way for this to work is to have all the smugglers drop smuggler all together. But the smuggler specials compliment the BH specials good, so I'd still lose out. And having msmuggler and MBH, i can just loot my own slicing parts and make more money as I'm not paying for these myself, and will get more bussiness by charging less.

I don't know eq at all, but if you are only a single class or prof of a character, having a strike for this prof would be easier.

I like the initial idea, just needs alittle tweaking to make it work for SWG. I left my creativity hat at home, so I'll leave any tweaing ideas to everyone else......

other than breaking the EULA (Large gatherings are against blah....blah....blah) what other creativity does it need? Hang out in the Theed starport? if you really did care about the profession you'd have said something other than "Oh well, I'll just do other things with other classes" cause thats not going to get a resolution out of them, it only makes the point that the class is broken less clear.

And as another mention, the people did nothing but stand there, thats it (Some people got creative and left a ring of corpses around the stone) but thats all they did, and it was across the servers, other than people mentioning a place to stand in a general area that will get the attention of other players, it doesn't really need to be more complicated than that.

Don't get me wrong, im not against your idea, I just thought it might be hard to organize. If you want to, I might evan join the protest.

I was just speaking my mind....granted that's not always a good idea, it's more of a knee jerk reaction sometimes.

Really? Never knew about those. I hopped of EQ to play this game, never heard of this stuff. I knew when I played my Cleric, I always preferred a Warrior to be tank (wouldn't need to waste a dot if we're just XP hunting). I'd take a pally after that and then a SK. From my experience, with all the beneficial spells that Pal and SK get, few know how to use them effectively at high levels as well as having the equipment to make it worth it. STR gear is super cheap and most Wars can do their job of taunt spammer really well.

SOE's done some mass banning for sit down demonstrations. Their game is so poorly written that it causes tremendous lag when people demonsrtate.

here's an idea.. we all go to the cantina and start acting like a bunch of circus monkeys. We can get jedi or BH to stand there in a sailor outfit playing the music box while we hop around doing stupid tricks for credits.

you obviously don't know SOE. if people were to protest a profession SOE would rather remove it thatn fix it. they don't fix anything, they just take it out, like battlefields and FRS and droids on kashyyyk. just saying something like this wouldnt even effect SOE they wouldnt care.

So you're proposing a "wookiestock" type of event? You remember the protests for wookie armor? We called it "wookiestock" because all the hairy, half naked wookies standing around protesting looked oddly similar to Woodstock in '69... lol

I made a joke of my signature as a result of the whole event that read; "the new wookie armor, hard on the outside, Chewy on the inside".

Damned if it didnt work though! The new wookie armor conceptwas even cannonized later in the most recent star wars movie.

We are the customer! I dont know what makes people feel so powerless to effect the changes they want in the game when we're the ones with the money.

Having said this, there is a good way to do this, and a bad way. I dont condone distructive means of getting your point accross. Protests are OK, but tends to send the "or else" message to the devs, who would naturally play hard ball back. I'veseen the power of reason and open box thinking in regards to "reforming" SWG. Its best if everyone works together and considers all the angles.

Protests and walkouts don't do jack in this game. Never have. Do you think SOE will do something if all the smugglers suddenly cancel. No, they won't.

To make your feelings known in a constructive manner is one thing. To go up to the people who own the game and spit in their face simply gets you pushed further and further away.

I agree and disagree with this statement. It may push them away, but we've seen protests work in the past. There is a better way however.

I'm guessing those protest successes were merely coincidental.
