Thread: Can you damage slice a gun that is max damage?
So is there a chart i can look at anywhere that lets me know what the max damage for each wepon, or is there a max damage for each wepon type pistol, carbine, etc......

I'd heard a report that slicing a weapon at max damage raises the min damage... Is this not the case?
If the dmg is capped before any slices, no dmg slice can be applied. System spam that it cant be done, bla bla bla.
If you do a slice that brings it to cap, then min dmg will continue to increase normally, but max dmg WILL NOT increase. So no, nothing is redirected to min.
Case study: My ALR recieved a 7.3% to min, 3% to max on what shoulda been a 8% all around.
Reality -your damage slice cap is LESS than the hard damage cap for crafted weapons.

I have tested this and found it to be true. There is a slicing cap that is lower than the damage cap.
So what's the point of slicing again??

to increase the stats that the weaponsmith did not max out.
current priorities for weapon design
SAC then speed and damage - as you can slice these to max if they have great materials and SAC can not.
Sorry. I was trying not to be too sarcastic. I started grinding my smuggler before Hell 19, but now with the rarity of the loot drops (and I'm not much of a flyer) I'm scratching my head wondering wth I wasted my time for. Is there an up side to the new slicing system at all? 2% anything isn't very impressive, and the fact that you can't go above some cap that's LOWER than the cap on a weaponsmith kinda makes me itch.
Again, I'm new to the profession, and correct me where I'm wrong here, but why go to the trouble of farming for weeks and weeks for a rare component to slice a stat thats capped to begin with? Is it really worth the trouble? Trying not to be bitter. Trying hard!
