Well it's day 2 and still no evidence of an improvement of the Starsider situation. I think, at this point, I've just about had it with the smuggler profession. I've been a master smuggler on our server since around Christmas of 2003, minus a few weeks here and there for holocron foo and experimentation with other templates. In that time I've seen things you wouldn't believe; Imperial bases on fire off the shores of Naboo, particle beams glittering near the Tyrena gate, perfect 42% encumberance slices on somebody's composite armor, the looks of awe as I've let entire groups into the Death Watch Bunker without a key...
But all of that is lost, like tears in the rain. Two years of misdirection, broken promises and outright lies. Two years of being revamped "soon". Two years of carrots dangled in front of us, giving us hope, only to be snatched away at the last moment and replaced with a turd on a string.
I hated this loot-based slicing system and I hated everything it represents, which is nothing short of the ongoing push to move SWG from a fresh,egalitarian gaming experience to the same, tired old model of levelling up and harvesting uber lewtz. But I was going to accept it, on my own terms. Based on information which we were given I was prepared for this switch, and now I haven't even gotten any benefit out of that. As much as I love being a smuggler, and by that I mean the idea of being a smuggler, since we are in fact nothing of the sort, there's nothing keeping me from wearing a trenchcoat and acting shady no matter what profession I choose.
I've made the decision to use my respec token to finally master another profession I've always loved the idea of, the Squad Leader. While it's true that they're no more fixed now than they were two years ago either, I can take some small comfort now in the knowledge that it is better to be ignored and overlooked than it is to try to have this development team try to fix you. Like blind men with club hands attempting to work with Legos, their very best intentions are bungled and misshapen efforts almost without fail (remember how cool it was going to be to be able to do jumps on your new speederbike when they finally came out?). I believe that by being a squad leader, I can spend the next two months endlessly doing Gurk missions in worry free bliss until such a time as I can become a Jedi, at which point I'll come back here and whine that the latest smuggler special is broken and imbalanced.
Here's the rest of my beer and pie. I can't do this anymore.

Sad to see you go, specifically on day two of part one of a two - three part publish fixing smuggler.

Yea I know. But I mean seriously here... I've played since launch and I was in every beta this game has had. There has always been overwhealming negative feedback the first few days/weeks/months after mega changes to the game.
My point here is that if youre thinking of dropping something you love so much 2 days into a change... you're just overreacting IMO. Changes will come.

I think you mean the first weeks, months, years... after a publish.

Sorry to see ya go... although honestly I have to say that you're giving up too soon. The Devs were just made aware of the Starsider thing yesterday. It takes more than a day to fix something like that.
But it's your perogative.

yeah i'm done with it too....as a weaponsmith/smuggler the primary reason i went smuggler is gone....not being able to slice above cap just makes it too worthless. thank god for token respec.

I agree, but there isnt any smuggler content either... soo..... whats left other than being a guy all the chicks dig?

Heh. Me too. Thats why I'll stay smuggler.
I just really hope things pick up a bit for us and those poor CHs geez what a pisser.

Aye, I hope the smuggler missions are a hit. I really hope someday we'll be able to smuggler player missions.
About the CH's, that does blow. But at the same time... It was kind of funny seeing lvl 1 kimo's following this guy protesting in theed...
