Thread: Brilliant idea for smuggling people...
"I've thought about this too. It seems it would be a great ability to pass to Image Desginers to give them more of a place in the GCW. If a planet is under Planetary Blockade, no opposing factioned member can use the starports, or the shuttleports, or land from space.
However, a Master Image Designer might be able to set you up so you could "sneak through security".

Yeah, I just posted a message there. Can't blame the guy - he's looking out for a pretty limited profession and making the best of it.
In my message I said essentially that the ID can provide a new face, and in tandom with a Smuggler masking their faction the odds of success should rise. However, as the risk to the Smuggler is far higher than the ID, the Smuggler should have a much higher chance of success than the ID.
The way I look at it is - if you can't find a Smuggler than you'll take the next available option which is the lessor pick of the two - but at least you have an option.
It's all in the balance of course ![]()

Mmm what about (assuming we have a smuggling system implemented of course) a client getting an Image Designer to do something to them that would, once that client is grouped with a Smuggler, give that Smuggler a bonus in his/her chances of smuggling the client successfully? Would make sence for the Image Designers to make some "cosmetic changes" to help someone escape the law, but WE would be the one actually smuggling the person trough.
What do you think of that? Would remove nothing from Smugglers, implemented that way. Would just create some nice interaction between Smugglers and some ID willing to deal in some shady business. And would be a way to ID to be part of the GCW, like Auraboron mentionned.

1) the original post was made by the GCW Correspondent, not the ID one

Thats right, the GCW correspondent saw the situation, and automaticaly thought of IDs as a solution, not smugglers. Thats an example of how low on the radar we are. shame we arent really smuggling things, noone notices us anyway.

Thanks Mentski - I corrected my post in the other forum.
You're right - as the GCW correspondent it's sad that he thought of the ID first - but I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt on this on - because in my opinion the ID is more limited than the Smuggler and if the devs can give them something (that doesn't nerf us) then so be it. If it nerfs us though that's a whole nother ballgame.
Cheers

Yup indeed. Still like the "ID use a skill that if applied in the last (some time limit here) give Smugglers the client is grouped with a bonus on the smugglingn skill" way of tackling it.
Mmm I wonder if we would start seeing a new template, Master Smuggler/Master Image Designer
