Thread: Where have all the smugglers gone?

I don't know about any other servers but on flurry there were as many smugglers as there are bugs in the game. Alot. Most Masters. Now there are very few, most probably banned (which is a good thing) for cheating, and others just moved on to what ever the little blue box told them to. The reason I am posting this is just to ask how many smugglers are there (left) on your server? Not that I mind so much about less competition for spice and slicing, hell , I can sell spice almost at will, and slicing customers are never hard to find anymore. It's just a question and I would like your oppinion.

I add every Master Smuggler I find onto my friends list. There's at least 10 that log on around the times I log on (late evening).

There's probably many more during the day, but I don't have the time to log on then.

Having less Master Smugglers doesn't bother me at all. I am dedicated to this profession and won't be giving it up to chase a holocron or pick up other professions that would require me to drop smuggler.

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04

All the Smugglers I knew seem to have left the game. Many of them have been Smugglers since the beginning.

What the heck is going on?

Most of the prominent smugglers around here have cancelled or are waiting for their subs to expire =/

Lemme see how long I have to cook in this Jedi stew of a game before I do the same.

What's the point of posting here, as a member of this community for a long time Ive seen, done and postedit all. Now all the new kids come in and say the same things all us old kids (who are now unhappy) said a year ortwo or close tothree yrs ago.

It's kinda sad really, I dont even want to try and respond to the "stay positive" or "here is a new idea for smuggling" threads that the new guys post, the old guard has been there and done that. Take a look at threads from a year ago and not much has changed...well the community has been blow apart, that much has changed.

i agree...we stayed postiive and kind and constructive for 2 years.

during that time the Jedi and Bounty Hunters have whined and complained and screamed.

they have gotten everything they have asked for at one time or another.

we have gotten zero. slicing doesn't count. combat revamp doesn't count. we can't smuggle, after 2 years of being "positive" we have nothing to show for it.

I'm gone the 27th I believe.

I have been having fun in the COLS forum, no real point to post here anymore since I've given up all hope on this game.

My account ends the 27th. I may come back some day, but not unless this profession gets fixed. Let the Jedi and BHs have their fun. But they will no longer have it at MY expense (as in 'money').

Most Smugglers have had enough and have embarked on their first and final smuggling mission.

Namely smuggling themselves out of this aggressivelydisappointinggame.

Luckily, due to SOE's gross mismanagement and misunderstanding of all things remotely underworldy, this final act of petulance proved to be particularly easy.

The only thing resembling a patrol or blockade that needed evading was the rather misleadign way the 'Cancel Subscription' waypoint was located in the 'Register Expansion' area, but this only delayed most of the Smugglers, who, despite being virgin smugglers as they've never smuggled a thing in game, are well used to SOE's devious nature and fully expected Cancel to be hidden under Register.

Once this obstacle was successfully negotiated, many Smugglers found something they'd longed for for years.

Tranquility.

Please don't blame the Bounty Hunters for your misfortune - we didn't have it so good for a long time. If it ever cost 217 of your 250 skill points (and the apprentice points for THREE profs) to master Smuggler; if slicing xp was ever as hard to get (and bugged) as Investigation XP); if the "new missions" turned out to be less worthwhile than the ones you have because of the antics of another profession... then you might call it whining.

You don't seem to know what "whining" is - so let me tell you. Whining is when a Smuggler complains because another profession got its needed fix before Smugglers did. Alienating other players isn't going to get your revamp any faster - if anything, you'll piss off people who otherwise might have supported you. Maligning other professions is not going to get your revamp any faster - if I were a Developer, the last thing I'd want to do is spend my time fixinga profession full of people like you, who can't be happy if anyone else's profession is working, who want to drag everyone else down, and who whine about others allegedly "whining".

In case that was too many words for you to grasp, let me boil it down: Leave us out of it. The time it took to "fix" BH wouldn't have done much for smuggler - unless you think a Dev could have revamped your prof in a weekend of free time. We're not to blame for the delays in the Smuggler revamp - tell it to the Devs. It's getting to the point where, even though I'm a Smuggler myself and have been a Master for about a year, I'm starting to think that this profession is the last thing the Devs should waste their time on, if this is the sort of person they'd be helping.

I'm pissed after waiting two years for the Smuggler revamp too - but I don't blame my fellow players for it. Only an idiot would do that.

There's a phrase for people like you: "Does not play well with others". You probably still see it on your report card, don't you?
