Ok the jedi are getting concussion shot and stopping shot nerfed because in theory a big group of bh could possibly use them to help kill a jedi. The Jedi are screaming for a nerf to last ditch. Basically what happens is that they give a not-very-powerful profession 1-2 cool moves and then the powerful professions start dabbling in these moves, and they kill someone with it and then get gets nerfed.
So since smuggler and pistoleer are worthless due to their limited range and the fact that they are not damage dealers, do you think it is possible that we could get the devs to make us damage dealers? I mean it seems obvious that the developers only want carbineers and riflemen around, so why dont they give us the damage. I mean then the Jedi will start complaining about being taken out in 5 seconds but that will only be apparent to them once they get over the minor inconvience of getting rooted while having to toss uberheals for an extra few seconds.
Smugglers are not supposed to be damage dealers. Were supposed to be crowd controllers. The developers have said they are happy with how last ditch is working. So thats a be-ware to anyone who attempts to duel us.
Who knows about concussion shot. Weather its supposed to be a root or a paralysis will remain to be seen. Stacking roots to keep someone continiously immobilewas probably not intended by the devs, but again we will see.
So to sum up, smugglers are not damage dealers. If you want to deal damage, go rifleman/commando. However, I think the developers do need to give us something more (fix some specials) so we do become the kings of crowd control.
i love playing my smuggler with a group. I slap on concussion shot, panic shot, low blow, and all those other state shots and my group members love it. they can definitely tell a difference when i'm not paying attention or in /tell hell.

Or instead - make it possible for us to weild 2 pistols at the same time and we'll then have 2x the DPS.
