Thread: Reason for the new BH NPC mission changes
"Why must it always be a conspiracy theory? It is as simple as I was working on BH/Jedi missions and ran a few NPC missions and went "Wow, these are lame, Why would anyone want to do these?" So I came into work over a weekend and made some new challenging Marks, created some new loot, and re-itemized.
It was as simple as something was lame, I thought I could make it better, and fixed it up in my freetime.
Not everyone is about the PvP game, and even those that are like a bit of respite from it every now and then. Plus with nice new loot on there, who wouldn't want to kill some Marks? "
So, apparently, all Smugglers have to do is get Blix to try to do a few smuggling missions...
:\
He said this was with his freetime. Hopefully he has a lot of it.

People complain that he should have used his free time to solve some big game breaking issues instead... if big game breaking issues were so simple to solve that a lone dev could do it over free time in a weekend, they would have been solved already.

We got to admit, Blix is one of the devs that communicate the most, and it is not even his job to do so. He could very well keep silent and let all communication to Tiggs and TH.

Well said.
wait... so BHs are getting a REVAMP?!?!
that's actually very nice to see that they questioned this themselves, realizing we're the ones who need a revamp much more.
but seriously... someone send Blixtev their account name and password and let him try and Smuggle! ![]()
In addition to a working bug report/Correspondent/Customer relations/feedback system, something like this would be a really great thing. But without it... well, it just sends a "We'll do whatever we want to do. This is our game. (Nelson voice) Ha-ha." message to the public, I'm afraid, regardless of possible good intentions.

I agree, and can relate. When I do my coding at work, I'm either implementing critical stuff or fixing bugs related to critical stuff. Any actual "free time" I get on the job is spent playing around with things that annoy me or could just otherwise function better. It's a sloppy way to do things, but timetables force the issue in that direction.
Also if the original code that's being worked with is crap (as I've long suspected with SWG), that also tends to slow things down drastically. I know that in my case, it's taken me a long time to get the handle of some code that I was literally given, whereas I can easily make my own new modifications on the fly.
But I'm still a "novice" and working with extremely softcore stuff compared to the average software designer. So, on a personal level, I've got respect for these developers - I just question the ethics and even base morality of their superiors.

QFE, people need to stop spazzing that Blix did some work in his free time.

Watch out for what you wish for./emote points to AS profession./cry
That incident was a pretty good example of how things can go very wrong when you're not going through the "official" feedback channels etc. but are forcing your personal view on how things should work in a profession, what's "lame" and what's not... It went ok with BH and horrible with Armorsmith - it can really go either way when you take that approach.

You guys really do need a revamp. Not being able to smuggle after two years is a joke, especially considering that your one of the "iconic" SWG professions and all.
