Well since our smuggling aspect is not heading anywhere...or maybe when they do finally let us smuggle (knock on Corellia wood) we can have some others skills.
Gamble: Whenever we play on of the many games of chance based on our level we can "push the odds in our favor" and stand a better chance of winning than the average player. Some may accuse us of being FS.
Pickpocket: An idea that would really upset many players if it went through. Having the ability to remove the player of credits or even items in their inventories. This would be a random amount of credits or item, and the higher the level the better. If failed the Smuggler would get a TEF and attract the attention of local authorities regardless of faction, also being vulnerable of the player and those in his guild/party for some PvP pounding.
Picklock: Said many many of times regarding hidey home Jedi, but what if it could be applied to guilde houses, private homes, etc. We could go in and get a 30 min administrator time limit, with a chance of alerting the authorities if we trigger an alarm.
I know this is pushing smuggler towards a "thief" kinda class but I wouldn't mind having some of these skills.

True true, but 1 or all of these skills would be helpful in our given profession. Removal of our person from prison, gambling when we're down on our luck, picklocks to gain access to our vessels if they've been impounded.
We may not be thieves, we may not initially make/borrow/steal the goods we "transport" but we bend and break the law to delivery these goods from point A to point B. I'm not saying the skills have to be use specifically for these purposes I've mentioned (but I would like to break into a few "old friends" homes for a visit

LOL talk about a game killer...but then again I guess it would solve that whole database crashing issue due to the abundance of items since people would immediately liquidate assets to put the cash in the bank. One of our branches would have to have the title "Asset Redistribution Specialist" we could all wear tights and Wes could rename his Character Robin Da'Hood. We could be his Merry Men. ('ow are me seams? We're men (MANLY MEN!) We're men in tight tights!) Ugh this sounds like a nightmare I had. Can you imagine all the griefing? lol

"Asset Redistribution Specialist" I want that as my title. It may take up an entire room wall to wall (like the spaceport lobby in Corellia) to spell that out but it could make for interesting conversation.

No. Smugglers are not thieves.
The pickpocket and picklock are also nasty griefing tools.
So, no, thank you. =)

You may have a point with the "nasty griefing tools".

I like the ideas but we shouldnt be able to do it on players. I have suggested this before. /sneak a npc based version of maskscent, allowing us to sneak by npc's and /theft a skill allowing us to loot npc's while they are alive.

I think Picklock should allow us to get into Player's houses set on private, and get around entrance fees.
It'd be nice to take BH and smuggler, and Picklock on your mark's Private house, and be waiting for him/her.

I didnt think Smugglers were assasins either..LMAO...Leave that to the bounty Hunters bro....But as far as thieving skills...Ive played Ultima Online...And Thieves sucked...It all went by how good of a connection you had...And if a thief has a better connection..They can run away and hide theLoot faster...So I dont agree becuase people have slower connections and it would be unfair to them...
