Greetings gentlemen.

I am attempting to gather information on player's usage/opinions of exploding droids. I have posted a simmuliar thread on the BH boards ( http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=bounty_hunter&message.id=221979 to get a feel for what half of my potential customer base thinks, now I am going for the second half; you guys (and gals if any). I'm finding that these are not selling as well as most MDE's thought they would.

For those smugglers out there that use these droids, is pricethe biggest factor that goes into your decision making in regards to these droids? Are they too cumbersome to use? Are they not readily available on your server? Don't know enough about them?

I'm just trying to get a feel as to how topackage and pricethese droids so that BH and Smugglers may be more apt to use them. I personally got Novice Smuggler just to try them out, and now I don't want to give it up! Are there any color schemes that you would like the MDE's to use so that they are better hidden? Would you use them only in a R-3 chasis? MSE chasis?

Just some questions that I hope you may take the time to answer for me. I appreciate any input you have for me on this (good or bad).

-Thanks

well they aint worth the cash, simple.

Although I'm now frequently using one of those ticket collector types of droids, put him in a busy starport next to the ticket collector, call him ticket collector and let him go boom...

personaly I found them a pain to use. I have to go into inventory, called the droid. Then target the target. hit the macro button. If it doesn't work first time (I find it very inconsistant.) You have to denotate the droid by clicking on it. for the 10 seconds it takes to compelete that I can do much more serious damage with TKM and pistols. But that's just me. I might be unlucky in using them.

they are useless and to complicated.
at the first time i used a MSE bomb droid, i pulled it out, targeted a mob and shoutet attack ... . soon irelaized that i have to detonate him by the rad menu.
ok ... i sent the mse into the croud of mobs and tried to detonate him ... then i found out that im outa range to denotate him via the radial menu.
ok ... i went into the croud which instantly attacked me. i tried to open the rad menu which was pretty hard cacause i could find the little droid. i finaly found it.
ok ... the droid exploded after some time and did like 3k damage. thats what normaly do with a last ditch and my Kryat FWG.

problems:
1. to expensive for the damage
2. denotante command pretty useless cause in heavy fights u wont be able to hit it anyway

solutions:
1.make it cheaper and keep the current damage

2. make it more expensive and double or tripple the damage with somemedium armor pearcing

3. remove the detonate stuff and give him a simple attack command. instead of attackig, it would just explode in front of the mob. (i can sea jedis with thousends of folowing MSE's behind em allready)

every typo i made here is fully wanted and only exists due to entertainment reasons

I find that they are pretty expensive for a big bang. I have a tendency to buy them anyway though, mainly cause they help alot with turrets and times when I'm alone on base defense.

I personally like 'em alot. My MDE sells them to me for 20k a crate, which I understand is much below the typical average, so the cost isn't too bad for me. I have a macro that works really good... as long as I have them pre-progamed with a name in my datapad. I couldn't figure out how to get it to target the bloody things without changing the names. That's an issue I'm going to discuss with my supplier, though. Can he name them something simple in the crate so that I can call 'em from Inventory and use my macro? I'd burn through 'em a lot quicker (which would be good for HIS business) and they'd be more useful. I've found in PvP that people don't notice 'em much... they're usually too busy fighting with PCs

For all of you negative posters. It is clear you have not used the Bomb droids much. Those of us that have are having much more luck with them. To see the many ways to use them, and what they do.....

Chech that post out.

I figure if a MDE charges 1K each for the mouse with 35+ det/power they are a good deal, and a great way to clear a 34m circle (blast has a 17m radius).

One person mentioned that it takes time to get them ready and by then they could already have been attacking, and things just went downhill from there. The bomb droids are a single use surprise attack from a distance. Call the droid from 90m away. Group with it and then tell it to chase your target. When it gets there, click on the droid inyour group list and type /detonatedroid. and the countdown starts. This command can be used from at least 90m away.

The explosion is very powerful, and given that there is no save from it. I find that everytime I have used the 40 or so I have used so far, nothing escaped the blasts and took damage. Depending on the HAM of the targets, many were killed in the blast, or what little HAM was left was easily eliminated.

The only time I've seen them was for 8k. I bought one and tried it out. It was really cool, did a lot of damage in a wide blast radius. I would like to buy a lot of them, but for 8k each I don't think I would.

its not price that is the factor (my alts a MDE) its practicallity

1. the mse droid gets the demolition bonus and all other droids are far more expensive to make so it makes no sense to make a demo probot that will have a power of 45 and all its expense as opposed to a mse with a power of 36

2 cant call a droid in combat

3 49 ham makes it an easy incap and once incapped it does not explode

4 does not do a whole lot of dmg in pvp to players. its good for mobs, atsts, and turrets but a swordsman can dispach these things far quicker and as i said cant call another while in combat.

If you don't mind me asking ODEB, who is your supplier?

Thanks for all your inputs so far guys/gals. I am definately dropping the prices of my bomb droids. Don't know if i can sell them as low as 20k a crate, well maybe the single modules, but certainly not the adv mse bombs. Oh and the macro is sweeeet! can't wait to get home and use it!

Thanks again....

Dang your lucky for 20k a crate. I've scoured Tat and and some Corellia on Valcyn searching vendors and the only ones I can find are at 200k a crate and that kinda sux but I got sick of searching and starting saving. I guess I sort of got "lucky" and found my first to singles for 10k each. They fit my PvP style, alone and creeping in alleys and hiding out inall those furnished buildings no ones ever been in.

With my second one I managed to run into Bestine cantina with it in tow, blowing it up right in the party room. Unfortunately, the overts seemed to be afk and though barelystanding, my cold reptille heart wasnt as cold as it should have been. Seemed to be no one really to fight, I was out of bomb droids. Of course when I needed one the most (FD'd in the back of the cantina, took on 2 many stormtroopers) I was visited by a combat medic who took a delight in performing medical horrors on me, it was then I could have really used one but of course I used my only 2 right away.

I think for some players there great others its just not there style but thats good IMO cause it keeps them from being overused, and surprising. They're really good for getting the party started. The first one I blew did over 1000 damage to a unwary BH,sent himscambling, maimed and confused. A chaseinsued through some alleyways, some suppresive firing took placebut that time there was no mercy.

Yeah..MSEs max at 40. The only other droid worthwhile is an R3 maxed.

You dont call them from the D-Pad, you call them from the deed, which can be done in combat, and even while you are FDed.

3 49 ham makes it an easy incap and once incapped it does not explode

You use them in surprise attacks. When they dont expect it so they dont attack it. and if they do, you pull another, or an R3 with 4K HAM with bomb modules.

If 500dmg after pvp reduction and after armor resists isn't alot considering they CAN'T dodge it, I dont know what is good.. And a swordsman can't do it from 90m away either!

Love the BOMB DROIDS!!!!!
