Thread: I don't like the idea of quality affecting slices.

Everyone who feels this way - raise your hands!
Personally until the CU hits us, I'm reserving my opinion. ![]()
Smuggler is a hybrid profession - we get a taste of combat and crafting (although neither are spectacular at the moment, but I digress) If someone wants the joy of crafting then become a weaponsmith/armorsmith/architect/whatever - if you want a robust combat profession take up rifleman or something, but if you want to taste both then go smuggler.
On the other hand - quality control would enable us to garner a reputation for better slices.
It could very well be that the CU renders all this moot. So, hang tough! ![]()

Drugs are absolutely regulated by the government (IRL, USA). Every single component, and I mean even the water, is tested, retested, and spot checked for purity. I worked in a pharm lab for a while when I was laid off (from my present industrial lab) and even the benzoyl peroxide for face cream went through rigorous testing. You can't subsitute subcomponents without written authorization and a complete battery of testing. You can't change the factory's setup without the same. They're uber-strict about that, trust me. I can see the Empire being worse. I could also see the huge galactic system making it impossible to regulate too, but that's another story.
Either way, in the legit business, purity and quality are utterly regulated.
Now, we all know that basement labs don't have QC departments, and batch-to-batch variation is (I guess) what makes homemade drugs so fun and exciting.
Sorry to get off-topic, but that caught my eye. Quality in spices will be a major PITA, but it'll also make that sweet stash of high-end crystal useful in making you the supplier of some primo pixie.
