Thread: Slicing troubles
You have to read the description given to you at the top after you add the clamp.
It tells you what wire to cut.

I doubt we will see this guy reply because you have to be a bonehead not to see what wire it tells you to cut. I did slicing and first time i used the clamp i figured that out. Thats with having no prior knowledge on the subject at all.
Actually other peeps have had bugs and or other issues with the clamps. Thus calling someone a bonehead isn't very cool. This at times deters others from asking questions for fear of being made fun of. We are here to help each other not cut each other up. Just my 2 cents.

Agreed. I can't mess with anyone who's ground their way through slicing 4 without the benefit of clamps (either unintentionally or through a bug). That would have driven me insane before I even got my 20 containers.
I have not heard of any of these bugs and i just gave up master smuggler like 3 weeks ago. I figure in all my time grinding it i would have had at least one or too.
As for the bonehead comment i apologize. Its just when it comes to things that are pretty straight fowardi start to wonder???
There was a bug involving Base Terminals where the clamp would tell you cut the Blue Wire, but it was wrong. It's possible that he was talking about that, or something similiar. But, it's also possible he didn't read Menu options.
Anyways, when slicing anything, pay attention to Negative or Positive. I've never really bought into the idea that a plain ole fashioned sword had 'wires', but hey I don't make the dang things.![]()
I wanna know where they hide the wires on a stone knife or a wood staff. Answer taht and you'll be a rich smuggler.

Well, the wood staff is easy really. Wood in SWG is actually composed of a high tensile strength bio-structural composite material, which allows micro-wires to be run the length of the staff. As for the stone knife, well if some long bearededguy in the desertcan make water flow from a rock, I'd be willing to buy that there are wires somewheres in there.
Coincidentally, I just happen to have an ancient map which has the location of the famous Dark Fleet. I'd be willing to part with it for a modest sum, of course. ![]()

Pure bull**edit**.
I have no doubt that many people, you and I included, saw what was going on with the use of a clamp the first go around, or perhaps had it explained to them before they tried the first time, but don't just go and dismiss this posters explerience because it doesn't fit yours.
Be it the 2 or 3 weekly messages on the topic to my own follies in double clamping when in a rush its really obvious to me that the slicing & particularly the clamp interface desperately needs some attention. It isn't really all that obvious and in a game where nothing really rewuires all that much attenion the changes from that first dialog to the second can just too easily be missed. And it really don't require all that much work to make it clearer, which is probably why it bugs me so much.
If I had to hand TH a list of small fixes that could be done for a pre-revamp hotfix designed to make the day to day slicers life nicer without really revamping anything this would easily make the top 4. (along with plk crate pulling, tree documenting & removing references to slicing from magseals)
Im having problems slicing some weapons, are there any weapons that cant be sliced? is this a bug?
can anyone help please
Thanks,
