Thread: Startle shot to kill FD
Also, could you confirm something: Is using startleshot to pop someone using feign death an exploit? I did this is PvP the other day (my opponent was about to loose), so I hit him with startleshot and they "came back from the dead" so to speak...Then blasted me with /tells about it..

I asked Taurin specifically about using startle shot against a someone using feigndeath to get them OUT of FD...My specific question:
Many thanks...(in regards to another question I asked)

Taurin's answer:
Not an exploit. Feign Death is not a means to escape PvP death, it is more for PvE.
There you have it....
lol and there are multible posts by many other devs that said that the fact that you can still be shot during FD is a bug and that using these to pull someone out of fd is a bug too.
Your point?
As far as I am concerned, when the person that you report exploits to (who, after all should be well versed in them) gives you an answer even if you dont like it or agree with it (my alt is a smuggler too, however I dont see a problem with startleshot shocking a FD'd smuggler back to life), thats pretty much a definitive answer to me.

Basically, my point is this:
By giving a player who is FD'd the ability to NOT be targeted, and NOT be brought out of FD takes away the players ability to "never lose" a battle either in PvE or PvP...If FD were the way that most of the whiney babies on this forum wanted it, FD would be the instant "never lose" button...You might not win every fight, but you would never lose either.
This being the case, the second your HAM drops to 1/4 of its max, just FD. Let your HAM regen, or the opposing player/NPC looses interest and ventures elsewhere...
Imagine this:
Jedi would flock to this because then, they would never suffer a death (i.e. 200K experience loss)...Basically, if they were out leveling and picked on something they cant handle, they merely send a tell to a buddy to get them to kill whatever is about to kill them, while they lay wait in FD...Or if a BH happens upon them and starts attacking...."Neaner neaner neaner!!! You cant kill me!!" is the way it would go
PvP'ers would also pick this up, because in reality, it would make them unkillable....
There is NO WAY the devs would enable that in this game, and anyone with a hair of common sense can see this...There is one profout of32 that can get a smuggler out of FD...Get over it...

Acctully Carboneers can do it to. Perhaps you should do som emore studing on it.
And any person that is going to do the requerments with a jedi and using about a 1/5 to a 1/6 of their total skill points to just FD is never going to get anywhere.
CM's were never ment to toss from 96+M out but they have been, lots of things have happened in this game that shoudlnt have been.
And for the record FD does not always work espec in PvP. perhaps on a 1 on 1 or a 2 on 1 but any real battles you normally have many people firing at you at the same time i have seen my HAM drop like a rock in 3 seconds and coudlnt get a fd off. I have failed a FD in PvP, shoot I have failed it in PvE. Its not a Guaranteee by any means. I dont know how you can make it out ot be a "Never Loose" Battle
Ooohh...wow...TWO profs can do it...Besides, who plays Carbineer anymore?? LOL
As far as Jedi are concerned, just go read the Jedi forums and see all the crying that goes on over there for the 200K xp loss upon death. Getting FD to work around that would seem like a no brainer to me...
FD DID work correctly up until patch 8 (i think) where it either became bugged or was stealth nerfed...

Exactly what does that mean? I do not neccasarily disagree with what I *think* is your stance on this matter. But....that particular line kinda reads that you, as correspondent, will push for what you want, rather than trying to represent the community view. I hope that is not the case, and I am reading that out of context.

So I could kinda care less, as I know what I'll be pushing for.
