Some people are idiots.. I had a client whine about a 30 damage slice on a very nice NS looted Powerhammer. Kept saying I ruined its value in /shout.

I almost kept it..

Are..........are you kidding?! Wow......thats sad.....whining about a 30% damage slice. I tipped a smuggler extra because it was a 30%......be it a speed slice, but it was back when i was using a high damage, slow piece of crap llc

If I were a smuggler and got crap like that I would keep wepons....claim it was roleplaying

I grew up in this country (USA) believing that everything is what it says it is (sometimes more) and nothing is negotiable. However, in a gaming sense there are two likely economic systems. Say they were playing final fantasy 7, just as it came. Nobody will refuse to buy a good sword at the price it cost because they know it is non-negotaible. However our economy is different. Some people have paid nothing and got a swoop others have paid enormous amounts (60k+). I met a droid engineer, in pursuit of an entertainment bot for my profession (Actually I am a criminal but dont let untrusted people know that). Well the MDE was super nice, answered all my questions, explained everything down to how to work the droid (been awhile since I played). Well the bill came to 22k. I thought that was a reasonable price and since he even rushed from his local to come to the cantina to deliver it I payed him 33k for the droid and excellent service. The following night another MDE came running into the cantina spamming to sell the same bot I recently just purchased. Just to compare how well my purchase was I asked him how much. 60-80k.

I believe slicing cost comes down to the basics, supply and demand. Maybe they had something sliced previously, possibly from someone who needs xp or a friend who charged really low rate. So they saw your rate as ridculous, and can wait to find the lower rate. Maybe its someone who haggles everything they spend money on. They real question is, how much do you need to slice things. If it is your main source of income then perhaps, you should figure out the supply and demand in your area. If they cant find another slicer but want the slice they will happily pay your rate. Every smuggler I come in contact with, I try to establish some sort of friendship and add them to my friends list. So that when I become MS I can get a better feel of the trade by keeping close contacts in the underworld. I dont plan on living off of slicing, heck I dont even plan on profiting it from, but I have my guidelines.....

I am a criminal! I worry about Imperial scans and being locked away in some imperial prison on some desolate moon. So if you want my business, you will have to tip me 500 creds just to speak to me, because I dont know you and don't do business well with strange folk. If your a returning customer then you already know how I do business. After the tip you will follow me somewhere more private (empty alley) because I don't do illegal activities in public. I will gladly tell you my fee for what you want. As of right now I am thinking of a rate like: (Cost of Tools)+(1k x Slice Level[1-5])+(100cr/%increase), 10 or more items and I will not charge %increase rate. Friends and close allies will have situational pricing. If they dont like my price, then I will happily refer to them to someone else. Thus, for 500 creds, they get a name and I have a little fun.

IMPORTANT: If slicing is your main source of income, you will need to adjust your cost to achieve the most business as possible. If you are comfortable and dont need to live off slicing, charge want you want because its their problem not yours.
