Thread: Question on feign death !

Not quite true Wes. FaignDeath "kinda" works in PVP. I'm uncertain as to whether this applies to all players or just Jedi, but it seems a player's faign can be broken almost emediately which makes it pretty usless in a PVP situation. Here's an example:
6 of us on Starsider assualted Anchor Head a while back during the large PVP event on Tatooine on Starsider. We ran into a group of Jedi about 30 players strong and seconds before I was incapped managed to get in a successful faign. Even though the faign was successful and it seemed to throw my attackers off for a few seconds, they were somehow able to break the faign and DB me. Now these players were definitely Jedi and there was definitely no CM specials used on me to break it soI have no idea how it was broken only that these Jedi were able to do it and that it was literaly seconds after I had applied it.
Likewise, I found myself in a similar PVE situation. I was happily standing in Bestine as an imperial combatant when a Rebel NPC invasion began and I was surrounded by lvl 79 Rebel assualt troops. After about 6 of them open fired on me I decided the sensible thing to do was to faign and call for help and lay there until friends arrived. So I faigned, got the successful message and lay on the ground for several seconds thinking to myself "haha fooled you" when suddenly another Imperial combatant ran out of the starport and got blasted to hell. During the onslaught, even though I was successfuly faigned, I suddenly found myself incapped and then slain by the Rebel NPC's. My assumption here is that the NPC's were using AOE's on the other imperial combatant which, somehow, negated my faign and killed me.
This can't have been the same trick the Jedi had used on me in the PVP situation as my faign was broken AFTER the rest of my team had been slaughtered.
So in essence: It would appear that faigning stops an initial attack in both PVE and PVP but, whether by design or by bugs, can be broken.
YEah I wa a rebel attacked by 5 Imperials at a shuttle.... and I kept feigning death.... And kept unfeigning....
I think this happens if you change targets.... But I'm not sure...
Yeah Zotux, since the CU faigning has become really hit and miss. Up until recently, Eisley on Starsider has been Rebe-controlled and since I'm Imperial combatant 90% of the time I'm constantly getting attacked everytime I run into the spaceport. Although I'm an MBH/MSmuggler and can kill these pesky critters in 2 shots I often can't be bothered and so instead faign ...on average it takes atleast 3 attempts to actually get a successful faign and thats at Master.
If I could be bothered to properly try it out, I'd probably find the average faign statistic is something like 4/10 attempts are successful and thats at Master which, really, its quite a poor success rate.
The trick with fainging though (and this eats action like crazy) is to spam Faign/Stand/Faign/Stand until its successful as there is basicaly no timer on the faign special so it can be chained with stand continuously until its either sucessful, you run out of actiob or you get incapped. This can clearly also be placed into a faign macro where every second it attempts to faign and then stands.
In PvP combat successfully using Feign Death means you will not be attackable, although there are abilities that will bringg you out of Feign Death, such as the Jedi's healing skills Heal States and Total Heal.
Hopefully that'll shed some light on the issue
Hey.... How do I use my Ex/dead smuggler in 1 on 1 pvp player with dying.... lol
nevermind
Thanks for all the replies. I will work out ways to break it then. i am sure there are a few so long as they are not in themselves exploits.
Thanks again
You are choking!
XXXX attacks Verucca with Force Choke...
You have successfully feigned death.
You are choking! (at which point I was also standing again, but could not do any attacks)
You have been incapacitated...
You have been slain...
I was under the impression that FD cancelled all attacks? Is Force Choke a DOT? Is FD cancelled by a DOT as well as a heal? I know it wasn't a heal because there was no one around to heal me, plus I checked my combat spam and I did not receive any heals.
I admit that I am fairly new to the Smuggler profession and also to PVP, so I may be doing something wrong, or this may be a bug, or "working as designed".
Suspiciously though bleeds do not bring you out of FD.
