I've been keeping my mouth shut about some of the things that have been said about the CU, but I just got to let it out now.

The most vocally opponent professions I've seen are CH, for not being addressed, and Chefs. Now I feel for the CHs, to some extent, but the Chef complaints crack me up. Number one, food and drink will be worthless. I just find that hilarious considering what the Chef Revamp did to our Spices. The best part about it all is how at least half of all food and drink will still be viable in combat without even being touched (they're obviously upset that their booming brandy sales may diminish). Foods have never had the diversity or power problem that spices have, and it's pretty safe to assume they still won't.

I just find it really funny considering our history.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

Given the sadistic nature of some developers - I'm sure the chef revamp would involve giving them "spices" to craft.

The circle would then be complete!

The Chefs are upset!

Aguild mate who is a doctor says the docs are really pi**ed.

Seems they think they will be worthless after the CU.

All they have to do is check out the skills lost to the pre-req changes and they will seee that there won't be that many 3k health nuts running around. Dabbling to get those sklls back will prevent many players from mastering 3 combat profs.

As a master commando I will bve loosing the certs for a bunch of rifles and carbines.

Besides I think the bufffs can add 20 percent over the 3k anyway. <- this statement may be wrong because I'm not a doctor and I won't be a 3prof master so I will need buffs and Chef food and when necessary I'll dig into my pack of stolen spices andwhifa boost.

The change has just made it possible for me to make Jedi.

Howdoes using LB on you, addinga little Flame dot, followed up byskewering you with my light stick sound?

Mostof the bad responses to the CU I've seen so far in public forums have been due to a combination of lack of information and comparing things to/still thinking in terms of the old (current/pre-CU) system. Everything has been said to be balanced in the CU, buffs, foods and spices and until testing really begins, there's no way to tell if things are bad or good... the proof's in the pudding and they really need to realise that rather than getting agitated overthe small piece of the picture they have for now.

Ignorance is bliss, knoweldge is power, while a little bit ofknowledge is dangerous... or something

Indeed. I haven't been vocal about my own concerns for just these reasons. From what I've seen things look very thin in the post CU game but that's because I have no idea how they plan to replace the skills or specials granted at different skill levels that currently have a targeting effect (or random / multiple pool) effect while also "fixing" all the currently broken specials and skills which is what I thought started most of this. Same goes for chef foods that actually got to a point where they were mostly orking and fairly well balanced against the current system.

But just like question of slicing or spices changing multiple times these are just concerns at this point, and as long as their aired and addressed I don't see the sky falling.

I think it was a bit silly for the staff to post what they did /and/ request feedback on only that, but its not all their fault here. Players should be able to see that there is more to come and learn a little patience.

Indeed. I have been trying to say this to some of the more upset folks in my guild. I think that SOE should have waited and put more information out rather then the little but the did put out.

I would think that Chef foods would change along with weapons and armor post CU.

Doctors might not be able to charge for folks to stand in line to wait to play the game but they also will be able to get the heck out of the starport and go have some fun as they will be needed in the field.

After reading loads of post about CU,I have to say this is the most comon sense answer i have seen so far. When a system is change in its core you should not compare it with the actual system. one thing i have been seeing so far is how we never try to see the big picture. i think we should Wait, See and ....... (Put here what ever you want)

I just got this though in my head: Prohibition! Chef's running bootleg brandy, bathtub brandy, chef stills cooking in the back of the house.

So far I think the CURB looks okay, lets wait and see (we are all really good at that) what else they have in store.

Yeah, but there's been NO word on what ANY of the buffs will be at all! There's nothing saying they won't be as good as anyone else.

Cu Patchnotes

Smuggler:

  • Slicing has been givento Jedi

  • Spices (that now give jedi +3000 to force) have been moved to jedi

  • Smuggling somtiems causes you to spontaniously combust

  • Smugglers can no longer use pistols

  • Feign death now causes you to die

  • Smugglers slicing may sometimes cause the weapons to explode(killing you instantly), unless its a lightsaber, in which case makes them unstoppable

Last I looked at the CU expansion info they've published, it was 10% for long-term buffs, 20% for short term buffs, MAX. Now, assuming you have the 3k HAM bar, the Docs can give you 300, and Chefs or smugglers or someone can give you 600. If food and spice are both 20% and stack, that's 1200. so between 900 and 1500 added to 3k HAM. 3900-4500 HAM. Pretty nice if you ask me. Probably required for soloing some things I'll bet.

Now, Let's play the supposition game. New advanced armor will cause De-buffs, affecting, rate of movement, accuracy penalties, etc. So, Chefs might not have the massive brandy sales they used to, perhaps sales in travel biscuits, parwan, and citros will increase. And it doesn't take Sherlock to see that Synthsteak and Aircake will most likely still be essential.

Doctors? 10%, well, maybe you'll have other buffs to apply, like movement buffs, or accuracy buffs, like steroids, or a long term version of those looted stims. Or maybe you'll have to go back to your original job, healing wounds and healing people in combat.

Creature Handlers, I feel for, they're getting a taste of the Smuggler treatment. They were told specifically they were a combat profession and that their ridiculous nerf was being addressed in the CU, which, hey maybe it will be, but they totally are left in the dark. Even we have news now.

All the straight combat profs, any bitching that comes out of them, they can shut the hell up. Sorry, just absolutely NOTHING for them to b*tch about.

Jedi, well, we all feel the same about jedi...

Uhhh let's see, oh, right.

The one group with something to be concerned about. Armorsmiths. They've basically got composite down to a science. They produce uber suits by the 100s. Pretty much the only other mass produced suit is Ubese, two products that account for like 90% of sales. maybe 85%, not sure how much Wookiee/Ithorian suits come into play. But try finding one Anyway, so, now, Composite will not only be the uber thing, hypothetically, but could, possibly, theoretically, be certed to specific profs. AS's that are going to produce armor up to the CU better hope that a lot of people have a need for whatever rpotections it offers, and have the certed prof if that's the case. Factional armor, perhaps a factioned AS might not be able to craft both sets... hmmm, more problems.

But oh well, they've been rakin in the dough long enough

Think of all us poor Smugglers. Assuming only DF counts as combat skills, as far as the HAM increases, I will have, let's see, if I've done my math right, 155 SP invested in combat with my template that I need/want. Now, if Someone invests, say 249 points in ALL melees, mastering two elite combat profs, brawler, and dablling in a third, I wonder what their HAM will look like compared to mine... I will certainly need buffs/food for pvp, unless smugglers get some major crazy bone.
