Thread: New Smuggling Content in SOE Press Release
Sony Online Entertainment and Star Wars Galaxies developers; Dianne "Tiggs" Migliaccio and Jeff "JFreeman" Freeman announced today the details for the much awaited "Smuggler Revamped" for the Star Wars MMO.
Contrary to popular belief that the new smuggling system for Sony Online's Star Wars MMO would be a simple mimmick of it's already existing delivery missions, the Star Wars Galaxies development team were kean to explain the new complex and intricate system to help illeviate the fears of the eagerly waiting SWG Smuggling community.
Dianne Migliaccio, Star Wars Galaxies' Director of Community Relations, confirmed that the new system was "exciting" and "fun" and looked forward to seing the response from the community after it's revelation. The system itself, according to Jeff Freeman, consists of three phases;
Phase 1 - Spice Collection
The first phase of the smuggling system, apptly named "spice collection", see's a Smuggler travel to the recently added world of Mustafar. Players must burst run into the middle of a lava pool and survive long enough to "grab" a crate if spice riding one of the bubbles of lava. Once they have successfuly picked up the crate, they need head back out of the lava and reach the mining facility without dieing and head to Jabba's Palace on Tatooine.
Phase 2 - Challenge Jabba
Upon successfuly completing Phase 1, the smuggler must engage Jabba the Hutt in an intense game of "Rock Scissors Paper". If the player wins the Rock Scissors Paper contest, Jabba will allow them to smugglethe container they successfuly gained from Mustafar and will give them a destination to travel too in order to deliver the spice.
Phase 3 - The delivery
Upon reaching the delivery point, 20 Super Battle Droids (cl120) will spawn and attempt to stop the Smuggler and steal his spice. The Smuggler cannot be grouped or healed by other players and will have to defeat every droid before he can complete the smuggling mission.
The Developers of Star Wars Galaxies and Sony Online Entertainment believe this is an immensely fun system and expect many players to enjoy it's tricky environment. In fears that this system has been designed for Jedi, the developers say that any player can attempt the missions though it is expected they will die within the first 5 seconds of the first phase. The revamp will also result in the "Smuggler" profression being renamed to "Jedi Smuggler".
*cough*
