Hi all

I'm a new master shipwright and I just started to craft some commercial chassis and equipments but I don't know how much I should sell my stuff.

Someone suggest me to make an average of the quality of all the ressources needed X the amount of ressources + 25% for the effort. If I follow the suggestion I will sell a tier 4 ship around 700 000 credits, I think it's a bit abusive

Can someone help me on that one please

I'm actually a little curious about this myself. I never really thought too much about pricing...

I sell chassis at 4cpu and used to list components for 8cpu. I ended up selling an insane number of the lower level parts so I tweaked my pricing a little on the low end. Now my components price at 5k, 10k, 15k, 30k, 60k (marks 1-5, respectively).

I think 8cpu is pretty modest, considering I've spent the credits on experimentation tapes and I always try to use the best resources possible, but I still turn a nice profit.

And when's the last time a weapon- or armor-smith charged 8cpu for anything?

on our server SWs charge from 6 cpu to over 30 cpu..

depends what ressources u use for crafting. if your vendors run out to fast and u need to recraft every day for 2 hours .. your price is to low..

and consider that u have to handcraft everything so dont compare with other crafting profs.. u should be a bit above the others CPU ratio.

*edit* this is for components. ships are around 2-7 cpu. too loe still. everyone wants a +100 massx-wing but comparing you with SWscharging 2 cpu... silly business chassies.. i concentrate on components..

well i'm thinkin of raising lower level component prices simply cause i dont want to have to make stuff every day =/

at least in DE i can just make factory runs for the stuff like BH droids that sell quick

as for chasis I only have a couple of the less sold ones on Bria in stock...and I dont sell em cheap...it dosn't matter much if they sell...they're not worth the time it takes to get the resources...sure you get a big chunk of change when you sell it...but it also took a lot of time and/or creds to craft....and theres always some crazy out there sellin em for like 1-2 cpu of which there is no point in trying to be competitive...

there was a very good thread a while back where i posted a currnet list of all bria crafted components ranges in prices

at the moment I am probably selling in the mid range for most components....probably lower in the lower range components at 5cpu for crafted components...now granted that is not with my uber rare uber special resources I keep for myself...or VERY good customers who will spend millions on a set up

I'll try to bump the previous price post so you can see the whole list of prices as of like 3 weeks ago on bria

Still adjusting prices, but I'm presently charging Mark Vs for 100k, Mark IVs for 80k, Mark IIIs for 60k, Mark IIs for 40k and Mark Is for 15k. Chassis: tier 1 = 35k, tier 2 = 65k, tier 3 = 130k and tier 4 = 200k. Although I'm not too concerned with whether I run out of chassis. I've also found that I can buy chassis for less than my cost to make, and then sell them at my normal price and make a little profit w/o having to exhaust so many precious resources. Most people who buy chassis from me also purchase a full ship setup. But my crafting focus is on parts, not chassis.

First of all, be aware that there is no one price list that one can apply successfully across all servers. The player economy varies greatly from server to server, depending on factors such as population, distribution of the population across skills, and even the resources that have spawned on the server since SWG went live.

Second, crafters the galaxy over typically start with a schemebased on CPU (Credits Per Unit). The way this works is simple, total up the number of units of resources required to craft the item and multiple it by whatever CPU you have decided you're going to start with. However, this is overly simplistic and there are other considerations that you should make in figuring the price of an item.

Finally, what are those considerations?

  • First and foremost, a good merchant will spend time to better understand the market. Take advantage of the galactic search feature built into public bazaar to monitor your competition. Visit competitors vendors and watch the inventory. If you have an alt, gather competitive information through that character by actually talking to other shipwrights.

  • Monitor your inventory! Watch what is selling and what isn't. Use simple supply-and-demand laws to adjust prices accordingly. If you can't keep paint kits stocked, it's because there is a huge demand and/or you're charging too little. There are even applications out there (see the stickies in the Merchant Forum) that will help you monitor your inventory.

  • Quality, quality, quality. If you crafted an "uber" engine, then you can probably sell it for more than an engine that isn't "uber". In fact, you'll probably find that the resources that went into making that "uber" engine are less common than the other resources you use. Adjust your price accordingly.

  • Your time!?! You really should build this into the CPU factor that you decide on. Your time to survey resources, gather them, craft the item, and stock it--all should be built-in. However, don't become carried away with this--you're playing a game, and your time spent in game should be to have fun, not run an ingame business and be paid for your time.

  • Custom-order service. I personally charge more for custom orders than I would if a player was pulling it off my vendor. However, the quality of the purchase is typically much higher, because they draw from my experience and the collaboration to assure a better product.

  • And here's a kicker for you. Do you want to serve the paritcular customer. This is a RPG, thus you might be have declared your allegiance to the Empire and decide not to serve Rebels and Smugglers. In fact, the best tactic to accomplish this end is to jack up the price on custom orders for these groups. There isn't anything wrong with it--you're playing a game--this is an RPG. If you're a Rebel, play the role and overcharge sales to Imperials to help supplement the Rebellion.
