It would be nice to have a toggle switch under "options" like we do for resources so we could see the RE level of all the items we are carrying or storing about.

I just get people to drop me off bags and before I RE anything I then sort them all into 10 bags (1 for each level) untill my loot house is full, RE them all, fill it up again
I wouldnt carry them about in my inventry cuase I get far too many left on vendor and dropped off in my houses by guild

I totally agree with that. It would make things alot easier, plus I've noticed a view tier 4 items with an RE level of 5,which is strange. But if we had a button that would save alot of time sorting. I too, sort my items into ten bags in my house.

I was using a vendor to sort for a while... just an extra one off in my storeroom with all the parts priced at 11111111 and 66666666 and such according to level.
However, this stops working as well when your loot wanders off onto seperate pages. I've now taken to using a spreadsheet to track inventory. All my loot is tucking into a nice neat spreadsheet with all the stats put together, so I can quickly pick out what I'd like to combine together. More work, less headache during the RE phase. The vendor still works pretty well, since if i list one particular component type, I usually get a page or less, but the spreadhseet means i can track what I HAVE had in the past, and it's resulting in a nice sampling of loot and crafted stats. I'm probably going to post it up somewhere or offer it to the Devs as a srange of numbers on stats for loot items vs. Crafted and all that, eventually.

That is a great idea on getting the RE level displayed, that would help a lot. Hopefully the devs will see this post and hook us up

Would be very nice. Here's one tip that I just figured out, though:
If you click the little double-arrow symbol in the top right of your inventory, the "examine" window will open in a pane next to the inventory. That way you can just click on the loot to see its info, rather than opening a new window each time. Would be better to show the level as you suggested, but I've found that this trick helps very much.

Oh that rocks. Wish someone had mention athat earlier. I too use a vendor for sorting loot. But instead of hitting the all spot at the top I go to the ship component sub-section and it breaks each area down for me. This works great as I re before I have 100 of a particular item.

Try this, it's been working well for me.
Have all you unsorted loot in backpacks on a vendor in an empty house.
Name 1 backpack for each cert level (Cert 1 Unsorted , Cert 2 Unsorted ect)
Hang the backpacks on the wall, and pull out your first unsorted bag. Sort each piece into a bag on the wall.
Pull the next bag out and repeat. If you run out of room, you can RE some or store them back on the vendor.
I also have backpacks on the vendor for Cert 2 enignes, cert 2 Capacatiors ect ect, when the house is full I pull the cert 2 cap bag open the cert 2 unsorted bag and move all the caps from the unsorted bag into it and put it back on the vendor. When you are ready to do a run of REing, all your backpacks are sorted by cert and type.
Granted its a long process, but if you are REing for decent stats it works great.

I got 3 back packs
Prupulsion
Core
Defence
In my notepad (/no to any one that does not know) I have a tally system set up for what is in my back packs. It goes something like this
Booster
lvl 2 -
lvl 3 - II
lvl 4 -
lvl 5 - III
lvl 6 - II
lvl 7 - IIIIIII
lvl 8 -
lvl 9 -
lvl 10 -
It works really good andI always know exactly what items I need when I go out loot shoping w/o having to alt-tab
