I was wondering when I would have my first "twit" encounter as a Master Shipwright. Today it came...Here is the scenario.
I was in the Mining Outpost on Dantooine. My shop is in a city there, so I fly in to park my barker bot like I do every day. I have my Master Shipwright tag up too btw.
Bot is chirping away. Kuat-Drive Subsidiaries, yaddy yaddy..:located here, low prices, etc etc.
I am four meters away, waiting on the next shuttle when "he" walks up to me...You know, the Novice Rebel Pilot, in his orange jumpsuit, with that slack-jawed look on his face.....And this is how the story unfolds.
Him: Are you a Master Shipwright?
Me: Umm....Yeah.
Him: Can you make missiles?
Me: Umm....Yeah.
Him: Can you make level 3 missiles?
Me: Umm....Yeah.
Him: Can you make launchers too?
Me: Umm....Yeah.
Him: Will you make me a launcher and a bunch of uber level 3 missiles?
Me: There should be a bunch on my vendor.
At this point I get on the shuttle and head to Corellia where my own ship is parked. (I rode with someone in their Oppressor because I havent seen one yet as I am unable to get away from my shop long enough to work on my piloting skills.) When I land, I see his last comment to me in spatial.
Him: Where is your shop? (now keep in mind, he came up to me after I activated my robot, which is still sitting there, chirpping away.)
I chuckled and went on my merry way, then later I get a tell.
Him: I bought a level 3 proton launcher and crate of missiles, but it is saying I cant use them.
So I checked my email, and sure enough, he bought a Mark III proton missile launcher, and 2 crates of missiles. I then proceeded to explain to him that Mark III was the missile type, not the tech certification, and that he needed to get the Mark II protons. He was silent for a few minutes, then demanded his money back so he could afford to buy the Mark IIs. I told him since it was an honest mistake, I would be more than happy to do that, but I was currently on another planet, and it would be a couple hours before I could. He then proceeded to get rather cheeky with me, and I put him on ignore. LOL An hour later he bought a Mark II launcher and 2 missile packs.
Has anyone else been visited by this person, or one of his siblings?

No, but I think I've met his politer elder brother.
Guy did the same thing, bought a Mark III launcher and missiles but didn't check the cert level. He send me a nice letter explaining what he'd done and said he'd offered them back to my vendor. In checking through my sales emails I saw he had immediately bought a Mark II launcher and missile packs. When I got to my vendor I bought back the stock and reposted it. No harm, no foul.
Had an even nicer experience with another customer. I'd been stocking my vendor with new ships and handling conversations with two people while I was doing so (you know how that goes). Unfortunately, I didn't recheck the prices after I'd loaded all the new chassis
and, when I got a sales email later that day about a longprobe, I found I'd sold it for 16.5k (instead of 165k).
I sent the customer a tell, congratulating him on his good buy and said that would teach me to check things better in future. To my surprise, he insisted on offering the ship back to the vendor (even though I told him he didn't have to and that the error had been mine), since he said he'd only been buying the ship for a friend. I've let him know that both he and his friend will get steeply discounted chassis the next time they buy ships.
So, there's some good to go with the bad.

Not everyone is a year or 2 into the game. Many of the players here are brand new due to release of JTL. Lot of them dont know whats what, nor have they read manuals or forums. But as professionals it is our obligation to make sure they have what they need.
When i get sent tells asking me to make them items, even if im not near my shop i will do it. Ill have them meet me at my shop and go over every item they want made. Main 2 questions i ask them are what level pilot you are, this allows me to know before hand of what level items they can use, even if they do not. And i ask them what stats are more important to them on each item.
With this i always make a customer happy, make sure they have what they need, and are equiped with the right items.
Having a merchant barking droid doesnt help anyone, being there and taking the time to be professional does.
You could have saved that guy a lot of money and time if you just took 3 minutes and talked to him.
And putting customers on ignore is a good way to get your shop banned, word spreads fast.
