Hello my in game name on tarquinas is Vrulo, and was just wondering if it would be possible to consider that when building a ship giving the shipwright a little more control over some ship option like making is lighter or heavier to suit a players play style like allowing mass reduction plating make it effect the hit points in adverse response to making the ship lighter like taking a 200k ship and making it 100k or 120k for better performance. Also making experimentation responsible for how many missiles or guns ports a ship has like the quality of the mineraldetermines the default like 50% quality would make it have like 1 less gun ports or missile or be A LOT harder to make the ship have one extra gun port or missile launcher like a 90% would make it so a little experimentation would give it one extra missile or gun or something about like that I don't know if it is even possible in the code or not, but it is worth asking .... well that is my 2 cents have fun flamming or agreeing with me

I don't agree with this request. Much time was spent in beta making each ship distinct from the others in the same faction. The common misconception is that a master pilot would ever want to fly master ships. I know plenty of master pilots that belong to the Rebel Alliance that still use their X and Y-wing fighters (as an example). Much pain has gone into making each ship distinct, and thus each ship has a "role". For examples, Y-wings are big, slow pigs that meant to have carry a whallop of firepower.

It would have been nice if Chassis could have been more customizable...then maybe they wouldn't sell for 2 cpu.

What I would have like to have seen is the implementation of chassis modules for the various components. For example, there would be modules for projectile weapons, modules for missile weapons, an engine module, reactor module, counter-measure module, etc. Basically a module for each type of component.

Each chassis would only be able to hold a certain number of modules, and some of the modules could be automatically 'assumed' in the basic frame (i.e. a reactor and engine module, since you'll need those to even fly the ship). But if a player wanted too, they could exclude a missile launcher module to have an extra projectile module instead. Mass would still be a factor, and the ship chassis could still have their individual personalities (i.e. Y-wings would stillfly like bricks while A-wings are still quick and nimble).

Where this system would really shine is on the multi-player ships. They have plenty of space to work with, so they could haveextra modules for additional capacitors, shields or armor (to help make them more survivable, as they should be). If they needed more power, put in another reactor module. Or if you wanted an insanely fast ship, but in another engine module.

Not too keen on adding hardpoints to chassis. I think the results would be ugly.

What I'd like to see, however, is the YPR characteristics of the chassis become experimentable. With a direct negative effect on the ship mass. And the reverse. So you could build a more manueverable Y-Wing. But the result might have the Y-Wing lose 1/4th its potential mass. Or you could build an A-Wing with more mass, but with reduced maneuverability from a 'standard' A-Wing.

This would allow people to really ask for some customization on their chassis while retaining the general characteristics of the ships (less chance of unbalancing things with a 2 gun A-Wing or a 6 gun B-Wing). It'd personalize the ships a lot more.
