Is being a Shipwright really worth it?

How time consuming is it?

I'm concerned if I should even bother. I'm already a Weaponsmith and love it... but would I be able to keep up with Shipwright. Basically what i'm wondering is if being a Shipwright requires constant attention. I know you can make a lot of credits by selling ships for millions of credits... well that's what the Shipwrights are pricing them at on my server RADIANT. However once you buy your ship and all of the equipment you need to make it uber... what else do you have to possibly buy from a shipwright again? The way I'm thinking is that Weaponsmith/Armorsmith is STILL the #1 priority in SWG in crafting professions. Everyone needs weapons after their previous weapons decay and the same goes for armor.

Anyone's opinion would be most appreciated.

I'm concerned if I should even bother. I have 2 other accounts that I just bought and will be spending quite a bit of time on them. 1) Ship chassisand components do decay.

2) Ship chassis and components can be outright destroyed (e.g., by an EMP).

3) There are plenty of expendables, such as countermeasures, missle packs, and various kits.

4) Yes, it requires a lot of work and attention, and if all you're interested in is making money, you should probably pass.

5) The devs have a filter that checks posts looking for words like "account", "bought", "ebay", etc. You will probably be banned.

Visit Fel Shipworx for all your ship needs. Located on Naboo (-7072, 3999), about 2000 meters west of Theed.

It really depends on who you talk to.

For me...since I didn't power grind thru the profession, I am not burned out on it yet.

It is very time consuming, and expensive. Takes a LOT of resources to make ships. You need a lot of patience, and a lot of harvesters, or money to buy harvesters.

There are a lot of people that powered thru the profession on the first day. These are people you are seeing that are giving up on it.

I got JtL on launch day. I've been slowly grinding out, and as of yesterday, finally made 4,4,4,4. I didn't want to be another burned out shipwright. I've been steadilly making cash....But once I eventually make my last few ships to get Master....I will be going full bore into make components and ammo. That's really where the money is.

Bored of the Grinding. Taking a break for an unspecified period of time.

If you are even hedging a little, I really wouldn't bother. The investment to gain Master Shipwright is enourmous, I have ground out AS, and WS (twice) and combined they dont equal Shipwright in terms of cost to grind. Your talking 5 mil in resources. Good luck!

4) You can make money at shipwright if you know how to work it. I have made more money at shipwright than i ever did in Armorsmithing, and its becuase i use costumer service to my advantage.

5) all i can do about that comment is laugh.

Evil wee mind. When I read that, I interpretted it to mean that peep went out and bought more copies of the game, not bought an already active account. Where's your head at?

Is it worth it? It can be, like any other less viable profession (any other than combat, armorsmith or weaponsmith), if you:

  • Have multiple toons (for lot/storage starved crafters)

  • Have lot swaps (for lot/storage starved crafters)

  • Have a jedi (10 more lots for crafting/harvesting use, for lot/storage starved crafters)

  • Have strong guild support (harvesting and loot for RE [since they nerfed disk drop rates with 11.4])

If so, then go for it. If not, stick with combat, armorsmith, and weaponsmith, cause most other profs are not as viable, and were overambitious representations of dev design, and proly should have skill point usage reduced to make single toon players more viable with the star wars' combat oriented professions.

Fundamentally opposed to the SWG GR (Game Revamp) - Fix Classic SWG incrementally rather than embarking on balancing a New SWG from scratch - Players have suffered enuf for 2 yrs., time to build on strengths, thanks! - CLICK HERE
