I have 5 lvl 6 engines, all except 1 with 90+ speed. Now do i RE them and get one for say 97 speed that will not last, or use them one by one?
The higher level stuff needs to get a bigger bonus, if only in Armour/hit points to make it worthwhile

Low hitpoints is the sacrafice you take for using loot components.
All player made stuff has alot higher hitpoints
Think if the great spaceloot stuff like poision loot with limited charges, not -1.

To be honest I'd be looking for 5 junk lvl 6 engines so I could take one of them and mix it with the junk, then collect some more junk for the next engine.

especially if you find a lvl6 engine with higher hitpoints.
throw in the nice lvl6engine, and 5 crap lvl6engines (one with higher hitpoints). and you will come out a bit better

I'd wait till you got 6 engines each with a good stat that was different... combine them all toghert to get 1 sweet engine.
