Have people provide their own resources and charge a fee? that way there isnt a enourmous drain on our resources, and people will appreciate what they get, and less storing huge amounts of resources for us!

Though it's an interesting idea hun, it's one that would never catch on. People are, in general, far too busy to want to take the time to get their own resources. Besides, unless they knew in advance what they needed to bring us SW's, they'd have to talk to us, get a list, go out and gather it (which could potentially take a long time) and then come back, give us the resources, and wait for us to craft. No, hun, sorry. VERY FEW people would go for this.
Look at it this way. Would you want to do that in real life?
-Customer: I'd like one Double Whopper w/cheese value meal, super sized.
-Employee: Ok ma'am. That'll be 6$, two beef patties, two buns, some lettuce, a slice of cheese, tomato, ketchup, mustard, pre-cut potatoes, a Co2 Canister, syrup mix, a cup, and some containers to hold your food. Will there be anything else?
-Customer: *sounds of tires peeling out*

I do this all the time i find it gives me something to do and I am sure of the resorces that is going into what I want. Granted I normaly do this for weapons and armor and I am not in a hurry to get something for the most part, but I fully intend to do this.
Another thing I do is be a lot wh..e, put down 3-5 harvesters on a spot of something the shipwright/whatever needs a lot of in exchange I get what I want.

Actually This is what i ask people to do for chassi's As for me I just don't have the resources to put into chassi's unless I start chargeing 30cpu. Which is NOT going to work. Most people actually don't mind. I would be quite happy to do this

I'll probably try to do this after my initial 'grinding' chassis sell off, though I'm not sure how well it will catch on. It would certainly give those customers that complain about chassis prices an idea of what the actual resouces cost (when you use good resources). And, imo, it would be better than using up huge quantities ofmy best resources to make a chassis that I can't sell for more than 10 cpu (and probably more like only 4-6 cpu in the long run).

perhaps this will work best for people complaining about the prices....

Actually this is how I am getting my A-Wing and possibly my X-Wing. I've got steel coming out of my ears right now and I have some of the other materials required as well. Since I harvest all of my own stuff this seems like the best way for me to get the higher level ships without grinding credits in the ground game.

This may end up different for shipwrights than architects, but I haven't had much luck with this. What happens is that people look on swgcraft, gather up exactly the amount of resources needed, and bring them to an architect, expecting to get a new (house, PA Hall, etc) for almost free. That's not very useful to an architect, because we need to make factory runs of a lot of components, and having a little bit of some random resources don't help. Also, we usually either mine ourselves and/or have bulk suppliers.
Because shipwright doesn't require factory made components, this might work out a little better for us. One thing to think about is - what do you charge for your services? You have invested your time and resources to become a shipwright. You likely have shops, vendors, harvesters, factories to keep running. What would happen to your chassis business if everyone did this - would that be worth the effort? People need to think about this for themselves - maybe you encourage it so you can sell more components.
