Thread: My beef with capacitors

I am sick and tired of constantly crafting crap capacitors.
When JTL hti the borcarbitic needed for the upgrades was REALLY bad.....so i attributed poor capacitor stats compared to loot to th ebad borcarbitic.
But now some excellent 800+OQ 970 conduction 900+ UT/SR borcarbitic has spawne don my server and i have tried making capacitors.........and i get results that are still FAR worse than looted.
Now perhaps looted items on an EQUAL level should be better........but my level 7 capacitors are coming otu worse than most level 2 and 3 loots. That is just friggin ridiculous.
I make soem of the best items on my server.....16.2k+ mark4 reactors, mark 4 enhanced armor thats much betetr than mark 5, awesome weapons, etc............but despite my quality on practically everyhting else, i can not coem CLSOE on capacitors.
I use soem of the absolute best resources around......it just does not matter.
I obviously know how to build good stuff, and i played extensively in beta since the first week. These capacitors should be coming out much better than they are.
I think the biggest 2 thing is:
#1that if you use an upgrade it has TOO much of an effect ont he other stat...if i get 6 more recharge off a quick charge upgrade, i lose up to 150 total energy, that is a very large chunk. Vice versa for energy increasers. If i make one with +120 energy i lose 5-6 recharge. The tradeoff is not very good.
#2 Why do they need steel and copper? Ive never understood this, even from beta. No upgrade i can think of uses 2 metals......more IMPORTANTLY, they dont use 2 metals and require a stat that is very different from emtal to metal.
Steel is a very low conductive metal. You have an upgrade which looks at 75% conductivity rating. That would be fien if copper was the only metal used........but when steel gets involved it CONSIDERABLY affects the equation.
steel needs to be removed as an upgrade resource.....it should be copper and a gas or radioactive material imo.
heres a few screenshots to prove what i mean. The first 2 are LOOTED capacitors. One is an RE'd level 2. The second is a NON engineered (it has NOT been RE'd yet) level 5 capacitor.
youll then see a few screens of my crafting process, the quality of the resources i used, and how the final product comes out.
I think it is safe to say crafted capacitors need soem love.

And the best part is SW on my server are selling weaker pathetic crafted ones for 20-90k depending on level, when i see ones with same/better stats on the bazzar for 1-6k. This one SW on my server, apparently their sh!t dosent stink, claim they have the FS crafting trees and all that garbage....90k for a level 7( maybe 6 i dunno) capictor with about 680 energy and a 25-30 recharge.

and i do realize you cant see the actual STATS stats on my stuff........but i assure you it is top grade stuff.
im using almost everythign with 900+ on OQ and at minimum of 800+ on the stats that get looked at whenever i can.
so its not my resources...and it is not because I am unaware of how to craft. Figure dotu alot in beta an dhave done very well on live.
Simply put i think that player crafted caps need to get better.......i thinkt hee steel beign required int he upgrade parts is bad, and i thinkt he trade-offs on the parts is very extreme compared to th eupgrades for other parts.

this is a comman concern from virtually all shipwrights. my first informal poll showed this to be the case, capacitors included.
this will be one of our top 5 issues for sure when i get that thread going... man so much work starting a new profession, when i did armorsmith there was already most of this done for me in the beginning

I had master shipwrigth on Live within 2 hours of getting my game so ive been one since the first week.....and i was in beta so im pretty good with it. Willing to help out if you ever feel whelmed.

Regarding your comment on steel and conductivity, I just wanted to note that the new Hardened Arveshium Steel doesn't have the same limit on conductivity as other steels. Not that my server has had any luck with this, but Ahazi had it spawn with conductivity over 800, and I heard that another server has had it spawn with conductivity of 1000 already...
But even so, I'm not sure we could craft capacitors as good as looted ones.

I don't craft a couple of items, capacitors being #1, as an RE cap is almost always going to be better. I have an RE 3 cap w/ 1100 Energy, 980 reactor drain, 1200 mass, and 43.1 recharge! My best level 3 cap is nowhere close

please word this wisely to who ever you talk to. i would really really really hate to see looted capacitors get nerfed. im a ship wright but i still fly and if they lower the looted capacitor quality. we are all toast and will run far and away from jtl if we cant use the equipment reasonably (and yes i think the looted caps are reasonable even though i have to baby sit my bomber with two l7 blasting away)

Pitty, he's a horrid speller, argues on posts they he didn't either read, or understand, and quite frankly whines about other shipwrights that are either more dedicated, or have better resources. We wont talk about some SS's of him litterally banging down my tent door he was banned from untill he got inside somehow. ( under the floor )
I may not be the prime example of what the comunity thinks is a nice guy.. but I wouldn't trade over a year of being disliked for producing HIGH end quality things, for a lifetime of being in his shoes. I will keep my education.. thanks.

( and to stay in touch with thie current post.. yeah our copper is bad.. and it makes bad Caps.. yup.. looted ones were allways better in beta as well as in live.. when we get some High end Pre component Copper. even then the Looted caps will still have a chance to be better then what we can craft.. Just Like.. Reactors, Engines, Armor, Boosters, Droid Interface, well wait.. JUST like ALL parts. yYou want to pick on Caps?? rofl what about the Quest reward engines.. I recieved two on my way to master pilot.. a 92.2 and a 108.8.. Try crafting that ... )

Low level Engines, Capcitors, Boosters and Reactors is far better as loot.
High level loot, on the other hand, STINKS

I have made a level 7 cap just last night using good materials. 743 energy and a 23.4 recharge rate with a 14k mass. I have seen looted lvl 2's with 900+ energy and 32+ recharge at 1k mass. This is jusy plain silly.

I MAY be mistaken but i believe i have a level 2 capacitor with like a 50 recharge rate, and about 1000 mass.
best one i've looted
i dont bother with capacitors, not worth the time
