Hello.

Can anyone tell me the current price of this ship (chimaera server) 211K mass 322+ HP.

Thank you.

The requirement for 211k mass means that some pretty good materials need to be used, and good stats = higher price of raw materials. Given that the Krayt requires 150k of resources the multiplier factor on the cost of the overall ship is quite high. The average price for a Krayt with over 210k mass is about 1 million credits.

I take it that the 322+ HP is a typo - I think it would be hard to craft one this low even with a critical failure on HP. Assuming you mean 3220+ hp again this is a highish requirement.

At a guess thevalue of the resources would be around 7-10cpu for the stats required (given the scarcity of good resources at the moment), making the cost to the SW about 1-1.5 million so the SW would have to charge about1.3-1.8 million as a minimum to make a fair profit.

Hehe yes a typo.

The HP is 3200..or 3222 to be exact. Lot of the materials I have harvested my selfe (iron, steele, fiberplast), yes but some are bought.

The price for the resource is probl. more like 4,5-5 so to get even is more like 675-750k. The problem is that ppl. sell this for 500k (don't know the stats though).

Thanks.

May I make a suggestion. Don't look at the COST of the resources, look at their VALUE, as any good business would. If you could sell the resources for 7 cpu why would you build them into a ship and sell them for 3 cpu? 500k for a master chassis is 3.333cpu, given a 33% profit (not unreasonable give the effort of harvesting/buying, mastering the trade and running the business) then that means that they value the resources at 2cpu or less - it costs 1-1.5cpu to harvest yourself (when all costs are taken into account - except for those few who have massive economy of scales to harvest millions of units of resources each week); thus at 500k the resources put into the ship cannot be very high quality and the SW would struggle to hit 210k mass, otherwise they are working at a margin that is unsustainable (which some are as they don't apply any business sense to their trade, or do the trade as a charity).

By the way nice quality ship - please make sure you do yourself justice and get a good price for it - you deserve it.

Well, chassis have the unfortunate position of being quite similar to architect goods in terms of what it takes to make them in that, at any given time, there's probably enough good resources in spawn to put together a nice ship. When it's that easy to make nice ships, it's a given that some people are going to push the price down around their operating cost; so 2-3 cpu on chassis ends up being the standard price, with 1 cpu not being totally out of the question.

Once the market gets locked in, people really hate paying much more than that, too, so I'd think you'd have a hard time selling what might look like an ordinary Krayt for twice what the guy across the street is charging. Now and then people ask me to make them an A-Wing or X-Wing with as much mass as possible and damn the cost, but in my experience it's hard to sell high mass-experimented ships for much above the standard market. Some pilots don't know the difference, I expect, and most others don't think the 500 extra mass is worth paying twice as much. (And, unless you're real gung-ho about space, they're probably right.)

So to get to the point, chassis are a rough market. If you think the resources you're using are good enough to justify 5-8 cpu, go ahead and list it at that, but expect it to take longer to sell. Especially on these high-mass ships (Krayts and Rihks and Bombers and such), pilots don't seem to get too excited about a little extra mass, so if you're going to set up a business specializing in top-notch chassis, I'd guess A-Wings and Advanceds and the like would be in higher demand.

I agree price expectations are very low, since many people don't know what goes into a ship chassis (look at the old comparison of cpu pricing with other trades).

I sell my ships at around 3cpu except the master level ones (and my low tier ships which I sell for less as I like to give the new pilots a helping hand on the ladder) - the Master shipsI think justify a higher price as the demand is lower, they can live forever in the hands of a good and knowledgable pilot, and stocking them ties up masses of resources thatcould go into higher turnover items. Every time I make master ships I have to carefully check my stock of materials to ensure its not going to damage the rest of my business, even to the extent that I will buy in materials specifically for master ship manufacture.
