How high a component do you think is worth doing this with? I mean, KSE discs are worth a fair bit, but have you thought about the costs to get just a CHANCE to get one doing this? When does it become worth it to sell to the chassis vendor? Does it ever, in your opinion?

The more you re the closer you get to a disk. So my advice would be to re everything and if it is still junk then sell it to the dealer.

Yeah, RE'd parts sell back to the chassis dealer. But, remember, you only get the price of one component at that level. I use that thought when I go RE'ing for discs.
My typical RE list:
Anything 1-3, max loss on it vs selling outright = 6k.
Those nice items that have RE level 1...no loss
The ones that I exclude from the list are those DIs that are CE 7, RE 3. 14k loss for the chance to get a disc isn't worth it imo. But, if I start getting a lot of regular 3s, I might RE a couple.
I wont RE anything over RE level 3 unless it's just some really bad parts and I've got a good stock for decent REs.

It depends on how much room you have for parts. If you are REing up to level 10 parts for a KSE disc, then you will need several houses to keep all the parts in. Plus, if you do L10 REs for this purpose, every time you do it, you turn 100k credits into 10k credits at the chassis dealer.
Personally, I wouldn't go above L1, simply to reduce the hassle.

Oh so true. The *best* co-mastery to go with shipwright still has to be master merchant solely for storing all the stuff we hold onto.
I've got 2 master merchants, both nearing full just holding onto all the stuff I have for RE'ing good stuff. Disc RE stuff doesn't even make it to them.

Yup. I go through the bazaar now and again just for level 1 stuff to make a night of RE'ing and looting. Finished 2 spray schems that way in the past month. But got my 2 214K mass sprays for my alts, so I'm done doing that noise
