Thread: New buff
Thanks
And I totally agree with Lodo's suggestions. Having both a shipwright and a bunch of ATK-only entertainer characters, politeness and consideration (and a tip!) go a long way with entertainers and really help both parties get the most out of the buffing time and experience. The new buffs do take time to apply, which most of my entertainer friends and I like because it gives us more time to perform and interact with the customers, as well as give us the opportunity to answer questions about the new buffing system (I personally also use the time to give the customer ways to contact me or my entertainer friends for future buffs, if they seem like nice people).
As far as tips go, again I agree with Lodo. I personally never set a fixed price for buffing services and always just say to tip what the customer feels it was worth. I never use covercharge either, as I feel that it sets a negative tone right from the start and really would prefer to earn their money by making the buffing time seem shorter than it was, both through performance and chatting. You'll likely find many ATK-only entertainers to be of the same mindset.
Lastly...and I feel dumb for saying this, but after some conversations lately, it probably should be said...we don't bite! Don't be afraid to talk to us or ask questions about buffing...or ask if you can contact them again if they don't volunteer the information first. Most (not all, but most) entertainers love to be useful to others and feel appreciated by their patrons. Taking an interest in what they do to help you or asking if they want to know anything about your profession or products that they always wondered about can be great ice breakers and talking is much better than sitting there in silence staring at each other watching the flytext go by ![]()
Watching an entertainer is as "entertaining" as both parties make it, so instead of seeing it as a timesink, make it fun
Some entertainers may surprise you and know just as much about ships or love piloting as much as you likelydo.
Also, many entertainers never set a price. So, when tipping just tip what you want. If they came out of their way to buff you I'd suggest tip a bit more than you normally would if they were just in the cantina.
You can also just ask what most people tip, or the average tip.
Most of all say thanks when you've gotten your buff. I haven't experienced this with the crafters so far but when mind buffs were around the combat people treated entertainers badly.....then again I expected it since I was on bloodfin.

Just wanted to make sure you had a pleasant experience with entertainers.

Thank you all. I hope I did not give the impression that I am not nice to the musicans or entertainers. If ever did, I am sorry. I usuallt get my buff, tip and leave. Anyway, thank you for the comments and yes I am on Lowca.

Nah, I didn't get that impression at all, actually...just offering general tips since many players that I've met don't really know how to "approach" entertainers and feel a bit shy about talking or asking questions (which usually results in silence). Many entertainers are equally shy about talking to people looking for buffs since we've had the "run in, watch, afk, run out" folks more often than not, so I'm trying to make sure both sides get a shot at enjoying the interaction a bit more.
If you find out that there's an entertainer channel on Lowca, please PM the dancer, entertainer, or musician correspondent and let them know...I'm sure they'd appreciate filling in that blank spot in the list (as would many crafters, I'm sure).
