Hey all, I've been reading into the upcoming Pub24 changes to elite components and I'm getting started on a mad quest for asteroid resources. What I wanted to know ahead of time, though, is:

Is there a large difference in quality between Y-8 Only parts and general POB/Elite ones? I saw that the asteroid requirement was much larger for the Y-8 versions, but haven't been able to find any hard numbers on crafted POB/Y-8 attributes.

Bottom line: should I mine enough resources for one POB and one Y-8 part, or are there any components with which the POB versions beat the Y-8 ones?

Right now the Y-8 components have stats the exceed the corresponding elite components. All aside, it is my belief that the devs did not intend this. I believe Y-8 components are supposed to have stats somewhere between Mark V and elite components.

I would check out what is being saidin the current test center thread. We haven't seen muchhere yet. All in all, it doesn't matter, because the devs can change things right before it goes live (andthey have been known to do so).

Rumour mill and Grapevine. Until it's live, it's all speculation.

Just get out there and get yourself a small stockpile of resources, to get yourself started, then wait for pub24. Do the mining quest to the bugged bit, so you can complete it shortly after the patch goes live.

Use that stockpile to load out the Y8 (everything else can then go to general population supply), then hire a crew and CAP and go rip up some asteroids.

I've been gathering assorted asteroid resources for a week or two now in anticipation for P24. I managed to do the Y-8 quest before it bugged I guess, which was why I wanted to have the resources to make mining-grade components available when the publish hit. As soon as I get my two POB's decked out in the newest parts, I can mine away for pure profit
