Thread: POB Price Crisis

As a recently-Master Shipwright, I am just now starting to think about building POB ships and POB-only components. However, as the componentsrequire Asteroids, I'm having a pricing crisis. I have no clue what the value of Asteroids are on the general market, let alone as resources in a component. Nor do I know a reasonable price for the POB ships. It seems to me when I do a vendor search the POB ships are a little overpriced at 1mil, but then again, I'm not afraid of a little overpricing from time to time. And lastly, as I keep hearing that Publish 24 will include a decrease in the amount of resources required for some POB stuff, are we expecting a price drop, or just a stress drop?

It appears that in Pub 24 the resource requirement for asteroid resources will drop for POB components. The schematics will also be fixes so you can experiment over 50% and mining will be faster (hence dropping asteroid resource price)

So long as the stations buy asteroid resources, there's a lower limit to prices ... but it can drop a ways yet, I suspect.

honestly i dont think prices will drop, asteroids will jsut be more readily available. I know i could take in 50k of asteroids a week at 75-100cpu and burn through them fast. I put 10 vehicle resotration kits on my vendor for 205k and they sold out in 8 hours. there is going to be an insane rush on POB ship components, and then a very steady demand after that.

Sorry i never really answered your question, for pricing, price should equal: cost to you to make the part + what you feel your time is worth(grinding included here) + a fair profit. I am of the opinion that the second two are not one and the same, but thats just a suggestion.

This explains very well the minimum price you should charge. But always consider the market as well.

If the market is selling higher than your calculated figures, then adjust to a comfortable amount so you're not missing out onsome extra profit. Drastically undercutting your competitionis a no win situation for both you and your competition. Your competition will get their higher pricebecause you'll always be sold out and they won't be working as hard to make much more.

If the market is lower than what you're prepared to sell at, bite the bullet or don't make those items. Example of the latter is ships for me. I won't make them because 3 cpu is the highest you can sell these for (steadily) on my server and I won't make anything for that low. My resources are worth well more than that.

My only suggestion is mine for yourself. If you go fair market value for Asteroid resources, the damned VRK crafters will **edit** you every time.

There's no friggin' way the JTL population is high enough or interested enough in paying for a Heavy Chassis or an Elite Component when we're competing for resources against profiteers offering 75 ficking cpu.

I charge 20cpu and just go get the stuff myself.

I havn't sold elite components for a bit...but when I sold them for a while I had em for 200cpu and couldn't keep em in stock lol...vehicle restore kits I sell at 200k also cannot keep in stock...the resources for vehicle repair kits definatly will not go down in demand...vehicles..BARCs/AV21s/jetpacks will always regularly get disabled =)

I would just echo the put it for sale whatever you think its worth...heck...I just sold a Opressor chassis for 700k...and i KNOW there are many many chassis for like 0.5 cpu lol...someone just happened to be in my store and needed a chassis maybe? /shrug dunno...
