According to a formula that works pretty well for these things, the max would be 66,625. However, I know A-Wings can get higher than this, so if Advanceds work on the same scale, I'd estimate somewhere around 67K as an absolute upper limit.

awings get higher than that? dang... mine is only 65.5k
i had one person claim to craft a 68k mass awing, but despite me offering millions, he never showed me one with that much mass. i assumed he was full of it and moved on.

The conventional formula for mass variance is 2.5% on the "base." So with A-Wings and Advanceds, whose base is 65K, it should range from 63375-66625. This isn't entirely accurate with certain ships, though, A-Wings among them; in a thread a month or two back on the subject, someone mentioned having crafted one with 66,750 mass, with the implication it would be possible to do somewhat better.
I seriously doubt anyone's hit 68K, though, so I think you're right to assume that dude's either mistaken or making stuff up.. experimentation just doesn't make that much difference. There's an outside shot you could take one up to 67K, but claiming 68's just outlandish, heh.
