Thread: What loot do SWs want? What should I sell to the junk dealer?

I've been flying around enough to be able to spot really good when I see it, but I'm still not sure what SWs can make that are consistently better than an average loot drop. I know that SWs make better armor and reactors (except for exceptional 20k+ gen loot), but what else is there?

Are there certain parts that SWs never want? (a standard lvl 6 DI for example?)

If you were on my server I'd offer to buy any loot you had.

I'm selling lots of reactors, armor, blasters, shields, and now even boosters since I can make em a full 10seconds. It is rare that I see loot that can beat these crafted parts. I've seen some reverse engineered parts that level for level are better, but not loot, except as you said the exceptional.

I just posted some statistics showing the average values for each loot component type and each level.

You can find it at THIS LINK.

It may give you an idea of what "better than average" loot would be. You can can sell things that don't make the cut to the chassis dealer. Remember -- If the loot item is much better than average in any one characteristic it is a good candidate for re-engineering.

Everything. Every level 1 piece of junk is a chance for a Firespray disk. If you find something with so much as 1 uber stat, it can be useful otherwise it can be used for filler or junk firespray attempts.

It'll depend a lot on the shipwright and what he offers as products. Some will want anything, some will want specific types of items, some may even want nothing.

For those interested in specific loot types, particularly desireable items should include even-numbered engines, capacitors, and boosters, along with any weapon of level 5+. I don't do too much business in RE'd stuff, personally, but I sell a modest amount of all this stuff, as it tends to significantly outclass crafted items in a way other forms of loot don't.

Plenty of shipwrights might go for loot that complements the popular reward items, too.. level 8 shields, level 8 (and to a lesser extent 7) guns, level 6 and 8 engines.

The chance at a KSE fragment has me buying almost all loot, even parts that are doomed to end up as garbage. I can at least sell the poor quality pieces (after RE) back to the Chassis Dealer for some money back. The only exception I make is armor (made this decision since crafted armor is always better). Inventory issues made me want to keep one component out of the mix, so I eliminated all but level 1 armor from what I will buy.

Key thing to remember is that almost all level 6-10 pieces have some value in some stat, and even those few that do not can end up as filler for other pieces that already have key stats in the range needed.
