Hello Folks,
I have been a shipwright for awhile now. Mastered it probably a few months after it came out.
What I'm finding is that Looted equipments is better than what I can create. Is anyone else having this problem. I hunt for the best resources and enjoy the crafting , only to loot a capacitor or engine that is much better.
Is there really a pay off for Shipwright besides chasis and reverse engineering (which would only make the stuff I loot way better than what I can create).
I would appreciate any help here, really wanted to keep this profesion just wondering if it gets better.

Because we got nerfed from the JTL Beta up to today. It is a coding thing and we have yelled, ranted, and raved. We have yet to be heard as far as we know of.
Hope that answers your question.

Rest easy shipwright, there is hope,
While there is loot that beats anything a shipwright seems to be able to make, there are several items that I sell on a large scale.
Reactors, Armor, Shields, Boosters*, Blasters, Ion cannons, disruptors, Launchers, missles, paint kits, and texture kits.
I do sell quite a few chassis, but just like a car dealer, it is the "options" (components) that make the real credits.
Collect as many high quality resources as you can. Try to make your components with resources that are all in the green, and you will shock quitea few pilots with your quality.
Stay away from making anything with red or even yellow resources.
Try to use subcomponents in everything you make. For instance, in blasters, I use the max-damage intensifier to give that extra edge. Today I even sold a pair of quickshot upgraded ion cannons that were requested.
I've made back all the 10 million credits I invested in becoming a shipwright and now, am turning a nice profit. Which is good, since 90% of my gameplay now consists of customer service and production of shipparts.
Let's not forget that being a shipwright and a pilot not only allows you to make your own parts, but allows you to test different configurations of parts, and pass on that info to your customers.
We may not have the profit margins of Weaponsmith of Armorsmith, but you can still make a great living as a shipwright.
*boosters, I always put a few points of experimentation into speed, several into energy and the most into lowering the consumption rate. Doing this you can get 10 or even 11 seconds boosters.*

From a game balance perspective, the craft/loot part of JTL is actually very well implemented. If you compare the average components crafted with average resources to the average loot you'll probably find that they are roughly the same (more or less useless IMHO anyway
).
If you compare the best crafted components to the high end loot then it's comparable as well. Now, the best of the best components are reversed engineered, and when you think about it it's actually pretty cool that both the pilot and the ship crafter have to work together to make the best ship. I think it helps pilots out alot to know that they have a role in making the best ship, and it really goes a long ways towards making each ship a little different.
I know for most crafters coming from any other crafting profession it feels like a slap in the face at first, but really this system sets shipwright apart from all the other crafting professions.

Thanks everyone for the comments.
I do like being a shipwright and a pilot and will probably keep it, but am just a little disheartend.
I always use high quality resources thats another reason im so annoyed. Because I go the extra mile to find the best resources with the right stats.
Oh well,
Thanks again everyone. Guess Ill be saving good stuff and reverse engineering allot

Don't waste your good resources on chasis. I seem to sell enhanced shields very well and armor. Armor mainly because it is what is constantly being decayed. its not the most romantic item to craft but it definatelty pays the bills.
