Has anyone recv this error before?
You have placed to many components in the tool. You need to place a quantity of identical components equal to the reverse eng. level of the components being used.
I have done RE before and am familiar with it. With some components, I get this error - even with level 1 components.
For example, I have an analysis tool and I place one level one component in the tool. This is the error I get when attempting to RE it. This doesn't occur on all components, but occurs on enough that it's annoying and I have excessive amounts of parts building up I can't RE.
Has any one else run into this or know of a work around? What a pain in the ass.

It's either already been RE'd, or you have one of the things where the RE level doesn't match the Cert level. bkl

I haven't seen this error so can you please make sure to note down exact details (for example type of component, name of component, along with date and time of attempt, your character name and location, including server)
Then use the /bug command and communicate it to QA.
Or if you can e-mail me at TestCenter.Sencom I can look see if I can recreate, or talk to the lady who reads the /bug and try to work through it.

That error has happened to me a few times on level one items. Tells me I have too many items in the tool when I only have the one. I usually just delete them.

I am 100% certain there are no other items in my tool, and I am 100% sure that the item is the correct RE level. All my level 1 items have a reverse eng. level of 1. I checked each and every one of them.

I'm having the same problem right now. Whatever I try to put in the tool, it says it's full. I've built new ones and tried them with no luck. I have no idea what caused it, and I haven't tried relogging yet, but this is a very strange bug I haven't come across before.
Needless to say it's like my worst nightmare, I just ran out of storage space and was about to RE some stuff for the vendor...
Edit: relogging seems to have fixed it. Gekok, you got any idea what led to your case? My computer crashed when I was in space shortly before I noticed this, but other than that, I'm clueless as to the cause.

I have this message pop up when i try to RE a component with optionnal sub-components in it (sorry don't rmember their specific names). Like when you add a sub-component to make the armor tougher or lighter.

I was able to recreate the following message by putting player crafted items into the tool.
You can't reverse engineer player crafted components, but you can put them into the tool. I put one lvl 5 crafted armor plate in the tool and got the message
""You have put too many components in the tool. You need to place a quantity of identical comoponents equal to the reverse engineering level of the components being used"
I put 5 lvl 5's in and get the same message when attempting to analyze. Could it be that whenever the message is being generated at least one of the components in the tool is a player crafted item?
After this happened, I took all the components out and put them back on my vendor.
Then I took a single lvl 1 looted component, put it in the tool, and it analyzed fine.
Another possibility is that you have 4 lvl 4 components, but one has a re' level of 5 or atleast a number other than 4. I know I've seen several lvl 10 items but the re' level is 4 or 5.
Anytime my inventory is at 100% and I try to put a component in the tool, it tells me "this container is full", I assume this is due to the fact that the tool with an item in it is actually a new item and needs an empty slot to form before the old empty tool is discarded.

Well, I don't know if that will clear this up for anyone, it sounds like you all have made sure your components are loot, and have the correct re' lvl.
Next time someone gets this message with a looted, non re'd component, I'd love to hear about it. Let's get some stats on it.
