Thread: Armor/Shield eff. vs. Weapon Min/max Damage A different angle to look at...
a 10% increase to min dmg is a 5% increase dps
a 10% increase to max dmg is a 5% increase dps
a 10% increase to vs shields does nothing for vs armor
a 10% incresae to vs armor does nothing for vs shields
a 10% increase to refire is a 10% increase to dps
while faster guns do cause faster cap drain, the current state of droid commands easily counters that drain.
Type 1: I experiment on Min/Max + Shield Penetration. These sell without doubt fastest!
Type 2: Rapid fire edition. Speed to the max and shield penetration & less weight.

i'm sure that the type 1 guns do sell better. some people are obsessed with the max damage stat. just like drooling over a 300-1100 gun on the ground game. but many people don't realize that max damage isn't the end all be all of combat. in a pvp situation a weapon with a 600-700 dmg range can often out perform the 300-1100 weapon because of the damage reduction from high defences.
Here's what i do. I make lots of different blasters and know what I feel works best. However, when it all comes down to it, I sells tons and tons of max damage blasters. They are easily my most profitable item. If I sell 50 mkIV max damage blasters I may sell 10 blasters designed for refire. When a customer sends me an email or a tell I recommend using different guns in the same setup. I like my guns to fire at different intervals with different damage. I feel I get better distribution that way and do more damage in the long run. People that I have recommended this to thank me for it. However, my sales dictate what I make. I don't care what I *KNOW* is better, I care about what people want to purchase. I'm in this to make money plain and simple.
The only item I make my way is boosters. Most people want to see the fastest speed but that's so wrong in my book. My boosters are a tad slower than one maxed out for speed but mine last 10-11 seconds and recharge much much faster than the latter. I won't budge on that stance ever.
Bottom line. You craft what sells. I don't care if it were an item so wrong for the purpose. If they sell, I craft them in bulk. =)
Interesting point on boosters.
I like fast boosters and don't care about a 10 sec burn rate. If i'm straffing towards a target and want to blow by, then I want pure speed. I'll only boost for a few seconds at a time. get out of range turn and repeat.
