I've checked stickies and everywhere else I can think of but I can't seem to find what Shipwright skills we need to be able to craft these. Does anyone know?

You could always read the skill boxes in-game You need Master Shipwright to build the Heavy variants.

The problem isn't skill it's the amount of supplies to make one versue how much that can be charged for it. Really only the z-95 is worth making because then you can skip buying the two y-wings and just have to buy a x-wing that justifies the cost. The heavy Scyk it's that great considering the performance of the Dunelizard. I don't know about TIES so I can't tell you if a heavy one removes the need for other upgrades.

The heavy TIE pretty much makes all the lower tier ties obsolete. Most of the Lower Tier TIEs have only one gun mount and worse YPR than the heavy and of course the heavy has more mass than any but the bomber. I think perhaps the oppressor and the new Royal guard TIE can be said to outclass it in any way. A bomber would at least be heavier and have more guns but then agains its a very slow ship. I haven't yet aced any of the Imperial squads so I can't really give you a full run down.

imo the heavy tie is the only one you REALLY need to make. I soloed every faction squad including imp storm squad. The rebels dont really need it since they have the heavy Y wings so eary, and the greater number of guns offered on the privateer ships ie dunelizard and kimo make them more desireable than their respective heavy variants.

Rebs might be interested in the HEavy Z95 since that spaceframe is so damn nimble. Im running some tests with one to see just what I can do with a tricked out heavy Z95 and will let ya know.

I've been playing around with all three of these ships, and these are my conclusions:

Heavy TIE - best of the three. Up to Tier 3 as an Imperial pilot, you cannot have a second gun slot anyway. There is no reason not to use this thing. I used mine to solo my way to the end of Tier 4, where I picked up a TIE Advanced because I desperately needed the second gun for a mission. But I went back to my Heavy TIE for my Ace mission. It's a very good ship.

Heavy Z-95 - I used mine until I got the Advanced X-wing at Tier 4. I soloed the Vette mission for that ship in a Heavy Z-95, as well as all of the missions that got me there. Another very useful ship.

Heavy Scyk - Not worth the materials it is made from. Not that it's a bad ship, but you get the Dunelizard so early on that it makes the Scyk obsolete. The trade off of 10k mass for an extra gun slot is pretty much a no brainer.

Having done Storm squad using a heavy tie till tie bomber I'd say they are very useful (although people have to do the opening missions in their prototype as the TIE is certed at 1xxx not novice).

Having done Vortex I kept the heavy-z till X-wing, so again very useful.

Having done corsec and Smuggler alliance I went straight to dunelizard and dumped the scyk as the second gun slot and the same mass is a better payoff for the maneuv loss.

It is also worth remembering they can be expensive ships as they do use 48k normal resources and the space stuff, so brand new players can rarely afford them, at least at first.

I dropped rebel pilot with my one pilot because I had to use the Y-Wings. On the other hand, my SW used the Z-95 up to 3222 when he used the heavy X my now-freelance alt got him.

Havent tried the Z-95 but the heavy scyk and heavy tie fighter absolutely rock in my opinion. You can still use them as an ace. So the heavy scyk is the only ship you ever have to fly as a freelancer and thats just awesome.

I disagree about the one gun slot being a big disadvantage. With a nice gun and weapon overload 3 you always got enough firepower with one gun during your grind. When hitting ace you can use a lvl 10 RE gun and you wont get two of those in a jsf/belbullab.

The heavy tie fighter got a higher mass than the jsf and the imperial guard interceptor which makes it more useful imo. The hitbox is very small too.

And nothing surpasses a tie fighter in style. Its simply amazing to own in deep space with a tie fighter.

a single gun doesnt really hurt too much in pvp since its a 2 hit kill system anyway. And forget RE lvl 10 go for crafted experimentals w/ a fire rate of .249 that fires 4 times a second. By the time the pvp target gets inside your kill box its already over.

actually the stats on the heavy variants is EXACTLY the same flight model to the Jedi Starfighter but not the same size.

heavy Z-95 flies great and its all you need till you can fly an xwing or heavy xwing. However, its a single weapon and its convergence is absolutely horrible

heavy syck fighter is identical in flight model but its convergence is fantastic and its fairly small in size giving it a smaller hit box than the dunelizard. I have not sized this up side by side to the necrosis ship but its definitely a good pvp candidate.

heavy TIE - never flown it but the flight model is confirmed to be identical to the jedi starfighter.. how is the size comparison?

jedi starfighter's biggest imbalance isnt about mass, loadout or flight model really. A dunelizard is close, a heavy syck is close. Its really about the micro size hitbox that makes it impossible to hit. In a jedi starfighter I can litterally solo corellian corvettes and star destroyers. I couldnt dream of doing that in anything larger regardless of shielding etc. The turrets just couldnt hit me.
