Thread: Are my prices to high ?

I've been Charging 10cpu for my ship chassis, as i have to buy all my resources since i only have one toon and it would take me forever to lift enough resources on my own to keep my buisness up .

I've had my vendors up for about 5 days now with 100+ chassis on them from all tiers and all three pilot professions, and only sold about 4 chassis . could this be because my prices are to high ?

Even if i was harvesting my own rersources, I'd still charge this much. i think everyone should, cause its really stupid that people are paying 1mil for things like Pre-patch FwG5 Pistols that take hardly any resources, and complain about paying 800k for a TIE Advanced ? i mean seriously, shouldent a starship cost more then a bloody pistol ? .

I personaly think that all the Shipwrights should set the prices on their chassis at a 10cpu minimum, and stop charging betwean 1cpu and 5cpu.all the people do that are charging that low is screw themselfs by charging so little and loose money, and screw the more serious Shipwrights by taking buisness away from them. So i encourage all the Shipwrights out there that are charging under 10cpu, to do themselfs and the other Shipwrights a favour and get this econemy up to where its supposed to be. Dident the Dev's say back when SWG was released that by-time JTL came out, the more veteran players would be able to afford to buy their ships and equip them ? well thats true, all the veteran players have more then enough money, or are in a situation where they can make more then enough money in a matter of hours to afford to pay that much. So i say make them work for our products , because we sure have to work to be able to afford the resources, or keep harvesters running constantly.

What do you other Shipwrights think ?

I sell my chassis at 5cpu. I mine all of my own resources so I make a decent profit at that price. The chassis market is pretty saturated with all the people grinding SW.

Why not try making the comsumable items like missiles, texture kits, etc? As people level up and already have ship chassis, that is where the market is going.

There also seems to be a shortage of well stocked component vendors (on my server at least). I am constantly getting tells requesting this or that component. A vendor with a comprehensive component stock should do quite well.

Questions.....

Where is your shop?

How easy is it to get to?

Do you advertise?

How do you advertise?

Why should people buy YOUR stuff?

(That means what have you done to set yourself out from the crowd)

If youre in BFE Lok 3500m from a shuttle port and havent posted in the trade forums or yelled at the SP...there's your answer.

Your prices sound great but everything on your vendor could be 1cpu but if no one knows about you it doesnt matter. Start by sending a mass mail to everyone on your friends list and offer them a 25% discount if they forward you back the mail and buy something from you.

ALOT of people made that mistake. You need to get creative till your cash flow returns. If you have combat go do Jantas for 32k a pop. Every prof has a skill you can exploit for $$$. You just got to get out there and make it happen. Once you get established buy a bunch of med harvesters and do cross server lot trades. I pull 90% of my own resources so my profit margin is very high. I also started planning for this months in advance but that doesn't help you. Get a hold of a shop in So Cnet. Rent a space there for your chassis. Tell him youre broke now but have 5 million (or whatever) inventory and will give him 10% of your weekly sales.

Get creative....

When you get some money back, invest in a few harvestors. The resource requirements for consumables and components are nothing like for chassis.

You will be surprised at how well you can do with a small harvestor fleet. Give it a week or so and you'll have the resources you need to keep a nice flow of components onto your vendor.

As you build up a larger business with good cash flow, that is when you can easily switch to buying resources. Good luck and be patient!

Overall, my advise is to never sell at a loss because you do not see anything moving. If you do the tips suggested by those previous. You will do fine.

I too sell my Chassis at 10cpu. and Components at 15cpu. The difference is I am a sexy Trandoshan and I do try to experiment to the best possible stats from what pilots that test my products tell me.

yeah priceing in my eyes should come down to the res value, not weather you mine it yourself for cheap or not, we get charged going rate by res sellers , why shouldnt we sell our chasis for less than we could sell the res on for?

yeah I have only sold a handful of chassis and all were special order. I haven't sold any on my vendor yet. But components are moving very well, and consumables like missile packs, countermeasure packs, repair kits, texture and paint kits have been impossible to keep in stock. I sell out right away. That is why I really am not building any chassis to sell right now. I have some on the vendor and they aren't selling. So I am sticking to what is making me money. If someone wants a chassis from me I do special orders. Right now I just can't afford to build a ton of chassis that are just gonna collect dust.

Location, location, location.

I also charge 10CPU for the chassis and 30CPU for components. I sell all I craft. I am 800m from Coronet and advertise with a barker droid when I am online. I am also on the planetary map under components forboth of my vendors.

The other effect has been is that my Installation deed and furniture vendors are getting picked off too when people come to shop for ships. I have had 2 structure factories making walls and deeds just to keep vendors stocked.

I sell my chassis at about 2-5 cpu.I have a good location nr kaadara so I sell alot of Imp chassis.I sell 5-6 tie interceptors daily at 110k a piece,Reg Ties for 30k and so on.

I mine my own resources and have an awesome guild who help me out when needed.I also wanted to do shipwright back when they announced the profs so I started mining and had over 12 million resources ready to go.I just mined everything rdy for release.Looted stuff I sell anywhere from 5k-12k depending on stats and I also make starter kits, get a backpack and put decent lvl1 components in it so people can walk in buy the pack and deed and be on there way.
