Thread: Making the most of the Z-95 How do you build yours?

The Z-95's low mass allowance is a huge problem, but as the ship of choice (or 'no choice', actually), making it all it can be is important for low-level pilots.

Assuming that a pilot gets his or her Cert 2+3 box first, how would you build them a ship?

Do you leave out the droid interface? is it worth it to lighten the reactor? Do you stick with level 1 armor? Do you throw out the booster? What Teirs do you use for ecah part, and what do you do to them (firing rate, lighening, etc)

How do you build, in your opinion, a good Z-95?

Personally, I cram a Mark II engine / cap / weapon / shield generator into there, just barely getting in under the mass limit, but I'm wondering if lightening the shield and engine are worth the performance loss..

I do not find this a problem since I can not trade a completed ship. I can not put a completed ship on a vendor either. I am not about to lug parts with me to make a complete ship. They want it they go to my vendor and make it themselves.

Considering the you can get box 1/0/0/0 right off by using the free box from doing few simple missions I usually advise people to skip the z-95. Its mass is pathetic, and the y wing cert box is easy to get even if you choice to get the equipment box free. I don't bother with the z-95, its a waste.

Have you tried turning with a Y-Wing lately? Seriously?

As a 1-player ship, I find the standard Y-Wing far too sluggish. With two people, it is a whole different story.

Anyone else agree about the Z95 being a waste?

Don't look at Shipwright as 'Flying Architect'.

For a truly good ship, you have to craft the components to fit juuuust right. Don't vend parts, get tells from a vendor script and sit down with the person.

I get at least 30cpu for my ships, chassis included. Quality, man, not Quantity.

Z-95 with level 3 components WILL STOMP a base Y-wing with comparable components. Z-95 will run circles around that Y-wing and EVEN IF that Y-wing has heavier armor it will only even the odds a little bit, a good pilot in the Z-95 WILL win most of the time

Agree, I have not moved to a Y-Wing simply because the upgraded Z-95 is doing fine for me. I'll probably skip the Y-Wing completely.

At 0100 I made a Z-95 and by 1111 I had it outfitted with a M2 Reactor, M2 Engine, Mid-Grade Blaster, Chaff Launcher, 2 pieces of M1 Armor. I then used this ship to 2211 when I got a Y-Long.

This is a matter of personal preference. I found that the Z95 was able to hold enough gear to do its job until 2211 while retaining its superior maneuverability and thus, for me, was a better investment than the standard Y-Wing. The Y-Long is a worthwhile investment due to the extra firepower so I used that until 3222 and now I'm moving into the X-Wing.

With teamwork the Y-Long could be skipped entirely. This is the most economic decision for players who have a tight budget. People may disagree with me on this and that is fine. I'm not condemning other preferences or choices, just defending the frugal approach.
