You sure? I've repaired over and over in beta and in live and had no decay.
I'll try it again though. Maybe I'm on CRACK!

The above poster is right, space station repair does indeed cause decay. I myself have seen it when repairing my armor in space.

Not sure where I read it but I was under the impression that if you repaired before the component hit 0 you had little to no loss of condition. If everything get's completely fragged and you repair however you will lose condition. Anyone test this?

I can definately say that all repairs done at a station cause decay. Run out with 1500 armor / hp armor, and get blown up then repair - there you have your answer.
You dont even have to let it get to 0.. it will still decay just not as badly.

It may look like there is hardly any decay, but its a fact that all repairs decay your equipment 10% of the difference between the max condition and the current condition. So if your stuff is very slightly damaged, then the repair will take off 10% of that slight damage and reduce that amount from the max. So no matter when you repair, its always 10%.
Crafted repair kits are good for a few things:
- POB repairs
- Repairs to Engine and Reactor if you happen to be grounded before you got the chance to repair in space
- Do a full repair in elite systems such as the Yavinsystem. (the stations thereonly repair you to 75%)
- Hand repair is actually around 9.5% decay (tested this myself).. while not a significant advantage, its there.

I wish SW would get this straight there is a need for other componants. I have yet to find a reactor or shields that compares to what a SW can make at the same level. SW never seem to stock the things I am looking for. For instance I hit like fifteen different places the other night looking for a level 5 reactor because all I looted was crap not one vendor had them. Plenty of MarkII and Mark IV but no Mark IIIs anywhere. I finally found a SW in Cornet who was not just a spam machine and he made me one. I am still looking for Mark III sheilds which I know are better than any looted at that level. No on the vendors I have checked stock them. SW find out what componants people will by and stock them. Have some of each level dont just stock the high level stuff. Pilots really need the mid-level componants especially reactors, armor, weapons, launchers and sheilds. I love the SWs that have a vendor full of missles but not a luancher to be seen anywhere. Doh.

Space station repairs - they're cheap, convenient, and they don't cause decay. The only people using repair kits (and thus the only ones experiencing component decay)are the ones crewing POB ships. Add the availability of decent and exceptional loot components to the problem and its easy to see that once someone masters their pilot proffesion they have little reason to buy anything other than missiles and countermeasures from a shipwright ever again.
Possible Solutions
- Lower space station repair costs and add decay.
- Change the space station repair design so that its free, but uses repair kits from your inventory.

I have seen decay on my armor when I use the space station. I player crafted armor started at 420 armor and had drop to 250 armor after two or three repairs.
