I'm 99% sure that after RE-ing, the item comes out with no "Reverse Engineering level". Since the analysis tool checks that for valid item combinations, that means you can't RE it, and it's the same with crafted components, IIRC.

Nope, as others have said, it won't even let you place the item back in the analysis tool.

Can you RE an item that is the product of an RE session ?


example: I have nine peices of lvl3 armor. I take three and RE them. Then another three, then the last three. Can I then take the three RE'd armors created and RE the three together again giving me one final RE'd armor?

No once a piece has been reverse engineered, you can't even put it back in the analysis tool.
