Thread: Hard caps on ship stats?

In the pilot forum FAQ, there are stats showing hard caps for all of the ships. I don't fully get this. Actually I think I do and I just hope I'm wrong.

For example. For a Tie Bomber it says in that FAQ that the hard cap on PYR is 50 all around. What does that mean? I just put together a new Mark 4 with 64.4 P/Y/R and 88 speed. If I put this engine in a Bomber will it only get 50 and the other 14.4 is just worthless? Or does this magic number 50 mean something else besides the YPR on the actual engine?

Thanks.

Think of it more as a multiplier. A ship with 50 PYR will have half the performance of one with 100.

If that's the case, then great. I can respect that. I just didn't want to bother putting my good engine's in if they weren't being used to their utmost.

The numbers in the Pilot FAQ are just for PYR acceleration on a given chassis, which just affects your ship's inertia and ability to change directions quickly. Engine PYR determines the overall speed at which you can turn, so an engine with nice PYR will always help your handling regardless of the ship's acceleration rate.
