Thread: Elite Rail Gun... whats the point?
Does anyone have any stats for other elite crafted items.. shields, engines, etc.
Thanks for any input.

I had my master shipwright friend make me one of the new Elite Rail Guns from some asteroid resources i gathered for him. I don't really understand what the point is.. its max dmg was about equal to a looted level 10 gun.. but yet has a mass 5x of the lvl 10 gun. Is there something wrong with the crafting? Does the weapon get some extra dmg multiplier? Just was wondering if these "elite" weapons/components were worth crafting.. I don't want to waste time mining if not.

thanks for the inquiry.
At the moment everything that is 'elite' for the POB ships and the Y-8 with only a couple exceptions are comming in very close to the already craftable MarkV (aka experimental, aka level 9).Not only is the mass insane to guarantee it wont fit on a smaller ship, but it requires a large amount of time harvesting asteroid resources. I spent a couple hours getting the resources togeather to make a elite engine and its stats were the same or only marginally higher than a markV experimented in the exact same way.
now the reactor did come out with 30k power and the shield (someone else posted the stats) but i remember it came out 3300 front/back but I think the recharge was a bit low still. Other than that, they do need some work
.
There is nothing about these new asteroid resource schematics that produce results in a way to justify the painstaking hours of mining asteroids. Not to mention, if you were a crafter, how much would you charge for 2 hours of harvesting asteroids plus the other good resources that have to go into these items? If a level 9 is running 50-150k for regular resources that can be harvested while the shipwright is off doing something else.. how much would 2 hours out of your time be worth? I am guessing quite a bit. Possibly 5x or even 10x the cost.
