Thread: More lasers More asteroid?

i think it just spawns more medium chunks
yeah, more medium chunks to run into your windshield while your trying to shoot another. Give it a try but i think it will end up being not worth the effort. Tractor beam is the best way to get more resources.
More Lasers = fewer shots to blow em up.
Sometimes you just want to pull that trigger only once, ya know...
Get a Mark III crafted Mining Laser. Two shots for a medium and a few more for small. The Tractor beam has a higher collecting precentage than the mining laser.
But, its up to you. But crafted parts out shine the reward parts for mining right now and we can't craft to the fullest yet till the astroid resource stats bug is fixed. Then, we will be gods in mining.
A friend of mine equipped a ship with 3 mining lasers--he fires at an asteroid and about 50 chunks come flying off--quite impressive.
However, WARNING, WARNING--be prepared. There is a chance that bandits will show up with each chunk you blast off an asteroid. Blast 50 chunks off an asteroid and you might find yourself in a very sticky situation ![]()
Might be an interesting way to farm Teir 5 components.

Therefore, yes, better laser = more rocks, for all intents and purposes.
EDIT: also, without giving away all my trade secrets, with a fast fighter and some skill, the tractorbeam takes no more time to pick up a rock than the laser does to blast it. You just have to know what you're doing.

heh, i like to do this in my X-wing, I call it, "Shotgun Mining"
just blow off a bunch of chunks, then slew the quick-shot enhanced mk III mining lasers across the body of 'large' asteroids, and you'll get a decent amount of resources for nearly no work.
though, warn others in the area first if you're gonna do this, it might lag some people out, and that's not nice, so don't do it if they don't want you too
I'm not really certain if it's faster or not than just one at a time (with or without tractor beam), but it's a hell of a lot more gratifying

Yes, tractor beams can bring in twice (as it looks to me, no hard numbers) as much as just blasting and it does require skill. I take less time to load up my cargo hold.
