Thread: Mining, what to make after you're good to go?

I'm almost completely done making the asteroid-resource made elite gear for my Y-8, but I need to get shipright opinions on what I should focus on mining the most, preferably for making asteroid required equipment and not the obvious diamonds for 20 cpu...

My ideas so far are the elite weapons, high mass variants, and the amazing 34K+ cargo hold of a heavy Y-8 only.

Suggestions?

well, i went through the schematics once and this is what I found to be needed in order of most needed to least needed space resources:

Petrochemical
Carbonaceous
Silicaceous
Organometallic
Methane
Acidic
Iron
Obsidian
Sulfuric
Crystal
Cyanomethanic

Though, it seriously depends on what you want to make, but I made 'hash' marks for every 500 units of resource in all schematics with space resources and this is pretty much the order they were in at the end (petro had the most hash marks by a decent margin). Keep in mind you need 1k petro and 1k iron for the 'heavy mass' variant light fighters.

Though, I do believe I forgot to include the body-mod kits and the new texture kits. I know all of them need Cyanomethanic, which is the bottom of the rest, so if you want to keep those, you may want to jump that one up. The body-mods also use obsidian I think. I forget what the new texture kits need besides the asteroid chunks and cyanomethanic though.

A thing to keep in mind, however, is that I did this fast and without much attention, so I could be off a bit, but I doubt by all that much.

Diamonds are only used in the Elite Mining Laser, which can only be used in the Y-8 (which I personally think is useless for the purpose of mining--or anything else other than show).

Don't need to talk about large cargo for the Y-8, as I already expounded on my opinion of the Y-8.

Elite weapons--no, stick to weapon (singular). The "Null Bolt" Blaster rocks--all around superior weapon.

Elite components--no, wait until they fix the bug concerning crafting with asteroid resources.

High-mass variants--maybe, do you think newbie pilots will pay for it? Personally, I've been figuring prices based on 100 CPU for asteroid resources. You could probably sell this to newbies if you explain that this is the only ship they'll need to grind to master.

Personally, I've been cleaning up on making mining equipment. I've focused on Mark III Mining Lasers and Large Cargoholds for starfighters. I charge 100K each these (based on the 100 CPU pricing I stated above).

Haven't moved the new texture kits very well--sold a single kit (after all, these things require nothing but asteroid resources and a chunk--what a waste).

ty vm,

As for the Y-8's practicallity, for groups I've found it mostly impractical, but soloing with it using nothing but the primary elite mining laser and my manuverability, I was able to match a krayt for mining speed, gaining over 11K total of 3 resource types within 3 and a half hours work. I don't know how that speed rates overall but it seemed to work fairly well, and at 100 cpu that would be over a million credits, comparable to ye old solo groups at dantooine.

Ive had good results from the elite shields - 3507.5f/b. 15.66 recharge (vs my 2.3kish markv Vs), and the elite reactors approx 23-24kgen (vs my 19500 mkVs). crafting on the elite laser is bugged still, you will never hit more than 50%, just like the cargo holds. The null bolt blaster is certainly the best craftable blaster, about on par with an un re-d lvl8 looted, but a good deal faster, which makes a big difference in the end dps. gauss cannon is a shield dmg weapon, and the rail gun is a armor dmg weapon (roughly .740/.240 and vice versa at base)

I've been selling mining lasers for 50k, thinking that 50 cpu was massively expensive. Considering they all sold out within a day, perhaps 100k would have been a better price.

Any idea how much to charge for the new texture kits?

I made one of each of the new texture kits and put them up for 100 CPU. A few have actually sold--go figure.
