they patched in the ability to redeed y-8s but i don't know if they are tradeable yet or not

You do the mining quests all the way to the end. For a guide, see the Pilot forum and read the stickies.

It's trable, I sold a complete Y-8.

It is tradeable but I believe you have to complete the Mining Quest to use it. At least that is the case with all of the other reward chassis.
