You can get L7 reactors down in the 11-13k range masswise.

Was that a random NPC drop, or a quest reward? I have a 28000 Gen rate in my Krayt, but don't remember where it came from. I just looked in my loot pile one day and there it was. Would like to find another for the YT...

Your reactor is the Slayn and Korpil Vortex Mk3 or somethign along those lines. ITs a level 7 that usually has insane Energy generation. Look for another level 7 reactor with around 13kor less mass and 5 other junk level 7's and RE it to have a very nice piece of equipment.

Just for a point of comparison, I have an 11056.x pre-RE L7. Plus a 13.5k on tap for a friend should I ever get my hands on another Mk3 like the one I've got on deck for a WO3 fix.

That reactor is a very rare random NPC drop. I got one with 37k and only one. I have killed alot of NPC's in my time. I re'd it and put it in my Krayt. If you are not a SW, just find one that knows what he is doing and you will be fine. You may have some problem getting the other six level 7 reactors though. Took me over a month after it dropped and that was with a guild's help. lol

Low enough mass? Depends on the chassis you're trying to stuff it into. As for RE'ing, there is no downside (other than REing it with otherpoor parts). Just make sure the parts you're putting with it have something to offer in the way of a better stat on something (at least until all the important stats have been covered). I would not RE the two together as both would make a good starting point for some nice reactors and barring some other spectacular stat on them, wouldn't really contribute much to the final.

I believe Adonis(Imidril) has a 40k energy lvl 7 reactor and REd it down to 11k mass, which is the best reactor ive seen in terms of energy to mass ratio...priia had the biggest reactor though at 45k energy...it was a lvl 7 too I beleieve and un REd I think...but it was 45k gen.

Reing will always add a percentage ontop of the best stats on the items you put in the RE tool.
so to answer the question, Yes, you should RE it.

doesnt matter if one stat is terrible bad, just find a part that have good numbers on that stat.

I seem to have the same issue. I was browsing thru my loot and found a wicked regen reactor. After RE i got it to 16k mass and 36k gen
