Well being a MSW on one toon and a rebel pilot with a recently acquired Heavy X-Wing I decided to play around.
Ok I will say this. Yes my pilot has thus far gotten to 4333 without ever once using a droid or comp. Yes that means no uber commands etc.
I did the Rori Rebel Base mission Yesterday to unlock that starport (Rori Space Station quest is like 4 or 5 missions long)
I did the escort mission.
To prove a point that SPEED > MAX DAMAGE I made myself 2 weapons (only a 15 point weapons systems with my SW yes Sullustan).
Weapons made are.
Armor 449.7
Hitpoints 899.6
Drain 2377.4
Mass 14561.1
Damage 1539.5-2381.2
Shields.510
Armor .510
Energy 26.1
Refire .290
Armor 449.7
Hitpoints 899.5
Drain 2377.4
Mass 14561.1
Damage1539.5-2381.2
Shields .510
Armor .510
Energy 26.0
Refire .290
Now my 3rd weapon is the Ionic Pulse Weapon which DOES NOT GIVE A GRAPHIC sadly. However it's firing effects come out of the weapons graphic spots of the above 2 weapons (yes so it looks like the above weapons do the blue lightning ball AND green lasers.)
Tier 3 ships in the quest. 2-3 shots from all 3 weapons gone. Tier 4 4-5 shots. Mind you at one point I had over 20 enemies on the screen and the ONLY thing slowing me down was my cap ran out of power (yes I know about cap overcharge but I haven't made a droid yet as I want to wait until 4334 for it)
Now from calculations with PoB weapons (made 3 for a friend 2 refire 1 max damage style) I found that by lowering the refire rate the DPS was over 1.5K HIGHER than raising the max damage.
So my question to all of you is this.
What do YOUR Customers look for? Have any of them asked for rapid fire weapons or simply Max damage weapons?
I am making another MSW tomorrow that will be an Ithorian so I can cover all my bases and am very curious as to what YOU see as being the best option etc.
BTW On a Different note. Any L7 reactors out there braing 17K generation? I did a player made one at 16859.6 and am curious.
I am a sponge. Give me your knowledge please!!!! /bow
Thanks in advance for any and all info provided about your experiences.

We already know that refire rate is the best stat for making an effective weapon. This topic has been discussed many times before.
In fact, I made a spreadsheet to simulate crafting weapons and did a scenario analysis to determine the best way to spend my experimentation points with the goal of increasing the DPS of a weapon. The best scenario put everything into refire rate and then max damage.

First, the answer to your question is mine look for both. The educated ones ask for quick-shots, and the hotheads ask for the max damage. For customers you do not know, make what they ask for; easiest way to keep a client. If you know them, and/orthey ask for max damage, reply, "Overall, or in one shot?" This might get them thinking...
Yes, this topic has been widely discussed, but I STILL (yes, like yesterday) had an argument with a player (a jedi, could you have guessed?) over what did the most damage... the numbers are facts; they are incontrovertible. Hothead pilots who think they are doing more bang for the buck argue that the don't have to hit as often to do more damage...well, this is TOTALLY subjective to the aiming abilty of the pilot in question...but here is MY definitive answer....
"The numbers are the numbers, run them yourself and see. Whether you hit or not is upto your ability to aim, so lets assign you (the pilot) an accuracy rating... If you hit 75% of the time, you are going to do 75% of the damage from each weapon. Run the numbers, do the math. 75% of a weaker weapon is STILL a lower number than 75% of a high DPS weapon. Whatever YOUR accuracy rating is, it applies EQUALLY to both weapons."
In my personal experience, I find the higher rate of fire to be more effective in both PvE and PvP. The steady stream of fire helps my aim, improving my aiming ability. It is very hard for a PvP pilot to dodge between my shots from a high refire weapon.
But in the end, let them decide...it's their money.
