Ive been under the impression that while crafting armor for ships, the higher armor rating the better and let the hitpoints stay near its default. Ive never stocked armor but am ready to do so now and figured it better find out for sure before crafting 10+ of each level item
so whats better? any help is appreciated
a) High Armor Low HP
b) Even mix of the two
c) High HP low armor (im almost positive this is not good)

REally depends on the ship layout and the customer. Some of my most popular armor is 1k armor 4.7k mass. Saves you an extra 2k mass that can be used somewhere else.

1k armor 4.7k mass, that is a very interesting piece. Is that with a Mark II or Mark III reinforced panel? With +2 in chassis tapes? How do you distribute the experimentation points?

Most of your customers are only going to care about Armor. that is the stat that determines how much protection they get. Low mass armor is great and sometimes will be requested, but i wouldn't stock it as any request for it will be rare. Just put any left over points in mass, as hp is really somewhat meaningless except for how longthe armorwill last.

you should play on shadowfire. Low mass armor is what the ppl want. It sells faster than my higher mass/armor combos. Both do sell extremely well.

when i stock components i stock like 3-4 diff variations ont he peices and do a couple per level. Heres another question
whats the relationship between armor and hitpoints on armor. does it take dmg on armor then hp or equally on both. or does the armor translate into an armor rating that is used to determine how much dmg is taken on the hitpoints. It doesnt tell you nor have i seen someone explain how armor works in space.

I always thought the armor was the value of the decay and HP was the total damage it can take. ?
