I noticed Chasis Dealer will be buying space loot henceforth, so I swung over to test to find out how much they're offering.
The lovely little chap is paying 1K per level of the loot (only tested as far as level 4 loot), so I don't think pilots need worry too much about their cash flow, and can stop yelling at our pricing structures. Does mean we might not be getting quite so much loot to RE though unless we beat his offer.

The question we need to ask pilots is, do they want to be able to get a firespray when they reach Master?
If not, then fine, sell to the chassis broker
If they do, they need to pass the loot through a SW.
They can either sell to us, then we have to sell on (which if it's junk we'll have to take to the chassis vendor), or lend it to us and we return it after RE. However with lvl 4 I suspect they may consider the 12k lost cash (since return only 1 item) too much and expect us to pay the difference?
This is the first time in the game that the devs have instituted a fixed price structure on a crafting profession (although I haven't seen how much the contractor was paying recently it started as a joke paying <1cpu) so we need to be careful and consider what this means to the profession.
In my opinion this is potentially a big issue, and needs to be considered along side the balancing of loot and crafted components.

This is going to be interesting.
What will be the results of this?
1) It will help to keep the firespray a rare ship
This I see as an advantage for SW.
2) It will help keep loot of the bazar.
Might help us to sell our stuff. On the other hand it means good pilots need to learn the value of RE. Less REd stuff will be available.
3) It will increase money influx into the game.
This is kind of interesting, as the works for JTL players only. People without JTL will be in troble considering the solo group fix.
Overall, probably not a bad thing for SWs.
Other opinions?

They are going to raise HOLY HELL over this. I was talking to Zandabar this morning about this on live. Land lubbers will be sreaming that SOE is trying to MAKE them buy JTL. Personaly, I don't care. I buy loot when I want. Never had a flow problem. I'm not huge into RE because I canspend that time crafting stuff that will sell. It will increase the rarity of the Firespray though. It's far easier to drop your loot on an NPC then to trek off to a vendor somewhere.

I can't try myself right now, I don't have TC installed atm as I've recently rebuilt my machine. Did anyone test selling already RE'd parts to the chassis dealer?
It would be a way for us shipwrights to recoup some of the cost of buying parts from pilots to RE. Currently I destroy all the Level 1 loot I RE, as no-one in the thier right mind is going to want it.
This change is going to severely decrease the amount of loot we get from Pilots anyway. It's far more convenient to just sell it to the Chassis Dealer than to keep hold of it & offer to a vendor (even if we do pay more than 1k per tier).

Actually, for some components REing is the better way. By combining the right components, you can build components far superior to any crafted. This really is an easy thing to do with armor. Look for a strong and heavy armor and a light and weak armor. Combine those and you get an armor, that is hard to get by crafting. It is the same with engines. By carefully choosing parts to RE, you can go a long way.

Oh, I know...I just don't care...lol. I can't keep crafted armor on my vendor as it is. I RE solely for disks and I only RE 20 to 30 items a week. Mainly when Im stocked or out of enhancements.

Selling loot to chassis dealer for 1K per equipment level + Increasing space loot drop rate + Inreasing chance of dropping space loot appropriate for your equipment level = Who in the hell needs solo-group missions anymore. Maybe that's a good thing, I don't know.
I haven't had much chance to fly around space yet, but from what I hear space loot already drops pretty readily. If people are looting more stuff, and it's roughly equal to the equipment level they are certed for, then it's conceivable that they could acquire a few hundred thousand credits in space loot in just a few hours. Plus, you don't need buffs in space, so it's not like that's a limiting factor. The only limit will be your inventory. When it's full, land, sell the stuff, then go back for more. Rinse and repeat as needed. No more waiting in line for buffs. Keep only the best of the best parts for yourself; sell the junk to the chassis broker for amounts you couldn't ever get selling it on the bazaar.
And SWG marches yet another step away from being a player-based craftingeconomy to a loot-driven economy, no different than every other MMORPG on the market today. I love this game, but when the Devs do stuff like this, I see the game dying by inches.

Loot is appropriate to your own level? Oh, dear...
I'm an A-Wing pilot... I NEED those Level 1 and Level 2 boosters & reactors!
